I am looking at Mt. Albert Scale Lumber's " Northway Tractor Repair " or SWSM " Railroad Camp " as a winter project.

I just posted in the Lounge, but I'll put it here too.

Tom, you can't go wrong with either kit.

I'd probably go with the Railroad Camp because of the castings.

I have one, and have opened the box...what kind of info are you looking for? I can tell the documentation is super, the wood is packaged, the castings are great. He tells you what paints and stains to use and how to do it in very organized step by step. Do you want me to take some pics and share that with you?

            Thanks Bill,

" Tom - I am building the SWSM Railroad Camp right now....

the last picture I posted here in the lounge is the

warehouse for that kit....It is fun to build, but

you really have to pay attention to the instructions

(provided), or you will easily get off track.

It is about 13" long by 7" wide, containing 3 buildings,

            one being 2 story.....I like this one....JMO.

Also included is a lot of details.....

Looking forward to a few more comments and pictures from those who have or have seen these kits.

I am looking for a fun build yet some challenges and one that will offer me hours of building.

                Tom,

I have the Tractor Repair, I don't have Sierra wests camp.

There is a 110 pictures on DVD that help describe what needs to be done...

Mine will eventually be the machine shop...I think.

Having built the railroad camp I can recommend it without hesitation. I've had my eye on the tractor repair also for a future project.

Tom - here's a few pictures of the Railroad Camp Kit...I have just now begun to weather the buildings, so nothing is complete....

Top view - Main office will get cedar shingles -

                    main deck is incomplete.

Here's a frontal shot of all three, just set in place so far -

Here's a shot of the "storage shed" entrance....

And a shot of the "Wharehouse" front....THis building has a side entrance for trucks which is in progress -

All the picture were taken with my iphone -

Cannon is packed for transit to the lake.

As I said, this is a work in progress Tom....just started weathering....There are a ton of castings included with the kit.

I hope this helps you make up your mind.....

                        Hey Tom

I did a fairly extensive thread on my build of the Railroad camp that you might find helpful.

                        Here is the link.

                            Tom,

I've built SWSM (O Scale) Railroad Camp twice now and wouldnt hesitate in highly recommending the kit.

The extensive manual is clear and concise, the details are plentiful and second to none, and, the kit builds into a great diorama or complete layout scene.

                            Here is my finished build...

                            and the build thread..

                            http://railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=34012

This would be my first choice, again.
