    • Original Frocks were made from discarded upholstery foam as I recall. Just make sure it is clean.

      • Morning all, coffee, tea and breakfast ready. Been a bit off here lately, so I figured I report in again. It's not the nice weather buth more the 1:1 that keeps me from hanging around the lounge once and a while. But no problem with that, making more money to spend on the layout.

Off after coffee to deliver this cupboard I posted, all nice 'n white now. Show pictures of the finished later..

        Have a nice day !

        • Thanks Bill....Yeah, I know....but I need to know what to ask for

I guess a trip to the local upholstery shop would be best......

          • Good Morning All,

Like the others I haven't been in the lounge much, but I have been looking in the windows watching what you all were doing as I walked by. Work, rehab and 1:1 chores have me beat right now. Some limited hours in the RR room though. I will be putting the building flats in place this weekend (I HOPE) just to see what it looks like. If it looks okay I will snap a few, if it doesn't then you won't get to see anything.

            • Good morning everyone and thanks for the coffee Martin,

Haven't been around for a couple of days as I was feeling under the weather (cold) but am feeling better now. Needless to say no modeling for me lately.

Geezer, just ask for upholstery foam. I know when I needed some for a project and once I explained to the guy at the upholstery shop what I wanted it for (to his credit, he didn't fall on the floor laughing his head off) I got some scrap pieces for free.

              Have a great day everyone.

                  • so, just looking around youtube, looking at cuban steam, find this video. now, at 1:39 there is a rather, well, comical looking stream engine.

                    • This evening we are setting up our modules for a weekend show in Folsom Ca. Really looking forward to that, had foot surgery last week and have been cooped up on crutches so getting out will be great. Don't think I will be much help setting things up, but I will be there.

                      Have a good day all.

I believe that it is called Open Celled Polyester, but Upholstery Foam should get you what you need. I read somewhere that a serrated bread knife works well for cutting it. Now for comic relief here's a pic of the Geezer in an original frock[:-bigmouth]

                          • I want to say thank you to everyone for the concern and comments regarding my father in law. He is at home now , but very weak and frail. He may need to go to an assisted care facility, as he cannot walk very well or get up out of a chair. My wife will be home on Sunday, it is difficult for us living so far away at times like this. The parts have been ordered for the van, it was much cheaper to buy them used, a suggestion from the parts store, hopefully they will be here tomorrow or Monday. I don't have any to turn on the headlights, or the wipers, so life has been interesting. I'm glad to be a part of this group. There's a bunch of Chinese take out food in the lounge, I took my college aged son to the Chinese Buffet, he sure packed it away, good to know that we got our money's worth! Steve

                            • Good morning all .. coffee is on ...

Nice sunny morning here. Time to get the boat out of storage. Off to the grand son's baseball game later.

I would like to refresh my mind on how to make "frocks". I googled it but all I found was Geezer's dress. Anyone got the receipe?

                              Have a great day .....

                              • thx Geezer, Set up on the modules went great. I was able to "borrow" an office chair and scooted around just fine. Only bumped my foot a couple times. Think I did really help some.

Looking forward to running all day today (trains not me) and will be there part time tomorrow. Great to get the mod guys together and set everything up.

                                Have a good day all.
