        Hakan, it's been quite a while since I posted on your thread. You have made great progress since I last saw many things you have made, and all are excellent builds. This ship is no exception. It will be a great addition to an already exceptional layout. Seems like everything your hands come in contact with turns to gold!

          There has been some progress since last time. I have added rubbing strakes to the upper hull. It looked a bit naked before. I also have made some belaying pins (koffernagel). They came out a bit to small so I'll make some smaller ones. As I didn't fancy making about 20 of these on the lathe so I cheated using the printer.

          I also have had some progress with the 2-8-0. It is nearly finished and I tested it on the layout yesterday. To my surprise it worked great which isn't usually the case after painting. Here is a video of it running without the boiler mounted.

                Your schooner has some very graceful lines. Is she going to be gaff rigged? With 2 masts?

                Also, you have to think about a name.

                  Beautiful hull and nice details. Reading thru parts of the thread I see you use Sketchup. How long did it take to become proficient?

                    Thank you for the kind words Guys! I’m happy you like the 2-8-0. Its nearing finish and at the moment its only assembly left. I’ll post some pictures later this evening.

                    Greg it will be a gaff rigged two master. The name of the vessel is Spray named after Joshua Slocums famous boat.

                    I have made a name plate that will go on the transom.

                    On Sketchup its is very easy to learn. I estimate giving it about two evenings in total 4 hours of testing and using tutorials on Youtube you will have come a long way.

                      the going is slow but my vessel is getting spars at the moment.

                      I also 3D printed a sign for her. It was more of an experiment but went rather well.





                      I tried to find a suitable font but it was tough but I hope I succeeded somewhat.

                      I found a great series on wooden sailing vessels on Youtube. It is from BBC and they had one vessel that is close to mine the "HMS Pickle". It is a english vessel but I'm basing my riggning on her. I'm not sure if it is entirely correct for America and 1890s but I'll use some modeling license

                          Hakan,

                          Your vessel has beautiful lines. The font looks good to me. I’ve sometimes faced the dilemma in modeling of deciding between guesswork and inference in the face of incomplete knowledge about a prototype or accurately modeling a well-documented prototype as a stand-in. I’m sure your decision is a good one.

                              Thanks Mike its tuff to find good reference on Internet for the time period.

                              Today I ordered some rigging thread and some tiny wooden blocks

                              from a source in UK. Its hard to not go all in on the rigging but I’ll try to

                              find a good enough level. Otherwise its all ship modeling and no trains.
