Manson's version was "interesting", but the version from Soft Cell in the 80's was somewhat iconic - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE0Wu1ivS7Q -- of the times. "Beside Bowie" is really about Ronson, but the detailed history on the formation of the Spiders from Mars band is very interesting; Woodmansey's book "Spider from Mars" is also quite good on the evolution of that band.

Well worth watching "Beside Bowie" to learn a lot about how that album was assembled and the contributions from Mick Ronson and Rick Wakeman.
