Another great guitar solo I learned as a teenager was Mark Knofler's "Sultans of Swing" with his band Dire Straits. I know that the song has been played so many times, but, to me, it's still a classic. I really enjoy his "finger picking" style of electric guitar playing. Study his technique on this video of Sultans!

Rick, Phantom and Rocker are from the Stray Cats. Slick was a studio guitarist and did a lot of songs for Bowie.
There was a band from Milwaukee in the late 60's named Raw Meat that was a Grand Funk cover band. Played quite a bit of Hendrix too. Three very talented guys. Must have seen them almost 100 times.

Rick, and everyone. This is a fantastic subject!
Just returning from a vacation, and I thought I would join this cool party.
When I was 15 years old, my very first job was working at a radio station.
Let's just say my exposure too different types of music has been vast.
As a result my taste in music is varied.
Now having said that if I had too pick some favorite music, it would come from the 80"s.
My younger and more foolish years.
First up.
Simple Minds
New Gold Dream

Andy-
I was a child of WWII and that beautiful Warsaw Concerto was very often played in my household growing up. I've never seen that very moving footage before. Thanks.
Did you know that the piece was written for a long-forgotten 1941 movie called "Dangerous Moonlight"?
-Dave
Thanks, yes I had heard of that title and also Suicide Squadron for the same movie. My English mom had a great ear for some of the best music that I continue to love to this day.[^]
Look out for #1, but don\'t step in #2!
