      I like the second plan Patrik. I'll offer these two comments;
      • you only need a Ash Pit if your engine are going to burn coal.
      • I would move the cattle pens to the other side of the track. You don't have to model the back fence, you can have it in your aisle.
      It's only make-believe

            How did you cut the turntable hole? Sabre saw? I have to admit my efforts to get a nice round even hole have not worked very well.

              Hi Dave I'm from the small HO side but I've used a router most of the time it's just a little missy but with a jig you get nice round holes. Tom

                Patrik I like what you've started. I will be following closely. I too will be starting a layout although more modest than yours in the next couple of months and hope to start a thread on this forum.

                  It has been a while since I updated this thread. Havent been modeling that much this year, until one month ago when I started to work on a smaller section, 7'x28'' (210 x 65cm). This section can be later be connected with the other planned sections when (if) I start building those.

                  Overall view from a photo one month ago.

                  One week ago, the track workers finnishing off the track and ballast laying.

                  Here I have weathered the ballast.

                    Patrik,

                    Great start.. I noticed that the 2 x 4 that you have under the sections are width-horizontal, you may want to reinforce that with a 2 x 4 with the width vertical for more strength.
