I was able to grab my camera and got some pictures of the Seaboard boxcar that showed up on the interchange

track this morning. I first caught up to it as the car was part of a bunch of cars being hauled by the Rutland RS-3

that is leased to the HKVRR as it was passing the Thorpe House Inn in Maeville.

Here's a shot of the car as it rolled into Dougtown.

I got this picture of the car spotted at Fitz's Repair & Fix-It in Dougtown. It's my understanding that Fitzy has been

hired to try and get the 'goodies' out of the car. Seems the folks in Michigan locked it up pretty tight, but if anybody

can get into the car it's Fitzy. After all, he is Preacher & Turtle's uncle and taught them everything they know.

Daveid="blue">, . .You might take a look at the 2008 Sightings thread, pages 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 for the YCF scenario!

I may be wrong, but I think the YCF had its origin out of Drexel Hill, PA.

Ahhhh, that explains everything. In fact, I believe I suffered from a bad case of Yellow Chick Fever as a youngster!!!! Hadn't

thought about the little peepers in years, but now I'm beginning to get some cravings to gobble down a bunch of them.

You can call me strange, in fact many have for various reasons, but I am NOT a fan of the little yellow Peep variety,

so therefore I am immune to the fever. In fact the only good peep is one that someone ELSE has already eaten.

Cold-hearted orb, that rules the night removes our colors from our sight...yadayada.

We are off to a great start already! Great shots, and some really neat cars heading out for foreign rails. Finally

we are up and running and off heads our offering for this years interchange.

Here we see the NYS&W's Geep 18 #1804 approaching the North Hawthorne shops and yard with some freight cars it just picked up in Jersey City. Some came from the Erie at Croxton Yard, and some from the PRR at the Marion Interchange. You can just see the caboose entering the curve.

This Erie gondola has a load of pipe and piping fixtures for some repair work at the American Hard Rubber Plant in Butler.

The DM&IR gondola has a load of scrap for T. Soprano's Scrap Yard in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey.

The two EC&W coal cars will be delivered to the Oakland Coal & Lumber Company in Oakland.

The LV & Erie coal cars are destined for the Butler Coal Company.

The L&B and SHPX cars are for interchange with the Lehigh & Hudson River RR up at Sparta Junction.

And finally that caboose we just glimpsed in the first photo.

At first glance, that L&N hopper car looked empty. A closer look shows it has a load of slag that the L&N picked up in Copperhill, TN. Since slag

is pretty heavy, they only partially fill the cars (to their weight limit). The L&HR serves the cement industry, and one of their customers is going

to try to mix the slag in some of their concrete formulas. This car will have been handled by four railroads by the time it reaches the customer.

The L&N from Copperhill, TN to Cincinnati, OH; the PRR from Cincinnati to Jersey City, NJ; the Susquehanna from Jersey City to Sparta Junction

(NJ); and the L&HR from there to the customer.

Hopefully I will catch the Susquehanna delivering the car to the Sparta Interchange.

                      Great pictures Bruce!!

Simon, you and Crispy have a great scene with all that rubble. By any chance, would that be 'Radar' O'Reilly hanging out in front of the store with the Nehi sign on it?

Damn, Dave you were reading my mind!

Simon, I would love see more of that construction scene. Got any shots you can post?

Bruce, those are great shots. Thanks for your narration. At first I thought that someone left the gates open a tad on

the hopper and 1/2 the load was lost. I didn't think about the stuff being so heavy. I hope the stuff is cheap 'cause

most Readi-Mix Cos. are trying to make concrete lighter!

Nice photos guys. I would post some Bruce but I haven't gotten an interchange car yet.

I do have some photos and video of the ops session I had last Saturday on the Layout/Ops Sig thread on the forum

under New Haven Ops. To bad the interchange car missed that one.
