Well the exuberance and excitement of youth wins the day. Dad, that would be me, was somewhat reluctant to join this year feeling that there really were no more original shots or story lines to be made from our layout. Crispy was gutted that I would even think of opting out. He is preparing a car for the interchange, so we are in!

How do you guys feel about cross-border traffic.

There may be added postage to/from Canada.

I won't be offended if the answer is no, but it would be nice to see some of the visitors on some of the fine FNG layouts. While mine will not be up and running for most of the year it would give me added incentive to get my act together.

          Think it over.

            Bob,

In the first few years of the interchange, T.J. participated from Canada. The extra cost, the customs forms, the variable time of delivery were all a hassle for both Terry and his U.S. partner. Often Terry would hold on the to car and wait until he was driving into the U.S. and mail it from there.

I think it would be great if a few of you guys would jump in and have a Canadian Interchange running at the same time. That would eliminate the problems listed above. Photos of the cars circulating up north could be posted in the same thread as those circulating down here.

              That was what I thought.

Now finding Canadian members that want to participate.

Is there a way of mining the members to see who is where?

ok, what about people using different couplers?

                Has that been an issue?

I use sergents, I know some other guys do.

You could just re-equip the car with Kadee's 5 or 58's for the interchange and put the Sergents back on when you get it back.

                      Gents,

I would be willing to join into the 'fray' of the car exchange, if I could get in.

The rules state that you need to be a member of the group for 3 months, and I only just joined up. I have many friends on the group that could vouch for me and the club, such as MarkF.

I am the Operations Chairman at Gatsme Lines in Fort Washington, PA. Several years ago, we were part of the Mailbox SIG through the NMRA with much success. Several of our members have asked about that SIG, but it has since folded.

I would be willing to jump in with a car almost immediately. My only concern is the costs involved and the usual turn around time for the car on the layout.

We would be willing/able to ship to Canada/overseas and also to participate in HOn3 exchange as well as we have a narrow gauge line on the layout as well.

                      Thank you for your consideration!

Gosh, Chris, now you are in trouble!

Once we get going, we normally ship the cars to the next member at the end of the month. So, including shipping time, we normally have the car for about 3 weeks. Shipping normally costs me between $3 and $5.

                          Hi Bruce,

Well, let's put it this way, those South Jersey guys will vouch for me if the check clears! lol.

It's a sharp turn around time for us as we usually only operate once per month, but I can incorporate it in as quickly as we can. The postage shouldn't be a problem - I would just need to get the club to approve on Thursday at our business meeting - shouldn't be too much of an issue either.

If the terms are acceptable to the rest of the group, we would be happy to join!

                          Regards,

                          Chris O'Brien

                            Chris,

The three month wait was to get to know the participants (for reliability). A reference from current members (yes, even that motley crew from south Jersey) counts the same.

Check at the club and get back to us ASAP.

                              Bruce,

Gatsme is in - we voted on the Interchange last night and it passed with no problem.

What do you need from me?
