    I've been following your great modeling on the other forum and you certainly have a lot to offer the members here.

          Well Hello all. My name is Jason Reis. I currently live in West Des Moines, IA and have lived in the Des Moines area for some 24 of my 32 years . My love for trains start very young. I was born near Chicago and my dad claims my first word was "budhist" which apparently was my way of saying "caboose". Diction was never my strong point. I was like most folks I got given a nice Tyco figure-8 set as a kid. I was 3 and it was heaven. When we moved shortly afterwards it got lost, but my love for trians didn't. By the time I was 12 I had 2 4x8 layouts (one stacked over the other) in my bedroom. Then came the long hiatus due to many factors; work, girls, school, etc. the usual. Then as I was finishing up college I got bit again and it has stuck ever since.


          Today I have a young family and that is where most of my time goes but in that precious free time I do woodworking, machining, and MRR'ing: which is either trying to research the PR&N, a branch of the SP that went from Hillsboro, OR to Tillamook; I'm helping my local club; or I'm helping the 2 tourist railraods that are close to me.

          I model in HO but have been known to help out fellas in HOn3, O, On3 & On30 as well. I think one of my next journeys will be in 7.5" gauge live steam, but we'll see.

          For me the hobby is great because to be good, you have to learn a lot about so many things, from history to computer interfacing. And allowing me to work with my hands with is a true joy.

          And now that the advent of DCC is in full swing I have been enjoying the use of it. In fact, we are just about ready to get our club layout connected up.

          My current projects are trying to make an HO model of the PR&N's #1...a 4-4-0 starting from a bachmann spectrum 4-4-0, building from stratch a 0-4-0 1882 Dunkirk in HO (it was standard gauge surprisingly), and getting our club's layout ready to connect up to DCC. That and trying to recruit a few more members.

          Well that is enough for me right now, and likely too much for you all. id="size3">

            Welcome aboard guys. Anthony, I really think a face-to-face will be in order in September, during the NNGC. Day & I are planning to come down and feast on all the great stuff there and in one of your restaurants... I think it will be fun! Lookin' forward to seeing your builds blossom here on the RR-Lines. Your scratchbuilds, especially this latest waterfront stuff, is just outstanding!

                Hello,

                My name is Jeff from W.PA & I'm just getting started back into MRR.

                It's been a long time and just dug my old stuff out and seeing what still works.

                I'm planning on building a C shape layout something around 4'X21' and would like to try the foam board scenery building.

                I'm interested in a mining scene with buildings & tipple I hope I can scratchbuild.

                        Welcome aboard Jason! A great intro - you've got plenty to share and look forward to it! I'm just beyond you, as two of three have left the nest, so more man cave time. Stick with it and belive me, things will get easier and more train-involved! LOL!

                            1) My name is Mike Sherbak and I live in Aiken County SC

                            2) I have been a model railroader for 45 years, got my first train set when I was 8 as a start into the hobby

                            3) I model a prototype railroad, the Maine Central mostly along with the railroads that connect with it in St Johnsbury VT and Portland ME but also have a freelance based roadname on the MEC called the Dover-Focroft & Portland. The reporting marks are a play on Doug Funnie and Patti Mayo of the Nick cartoon Doug. Karen and I enjoy the cartoon and often call one another by those names.

                            4) I model the transition era to the mid 80's and am mdoeling in New England, Portland, White Mountains and Coatal plain areas of NH, ME and VT (St J.)

                            5) The permanent layout is 30 x 50 l shaped and will be in HO.

                            6) My favorite part of the hobby is sharing it with others and intriducing the hobby to others. My least enjoyable thing to do in the hobby is clean my airbrush. It actually keeps me from using it more. I need to resolve to enjoy it more I suppose.

                            7) I control my trains using NCE DCC - I recently switched from Digitrax and originally started into DCC with a Lenz Set 100.

                            8) I have been in the paper industry for 22+ years and am now in a dream job as VP-Operations / Mill Manager of a recycled paper mill that makes tissue grades in Augusta GA

                              I should add that I recently completed buuilding 39 , yes I said 39 Branchline 50' Berwick boxcar kits. I enjoy kitbuilding alot. I also am building Sipping & Switching Society of NC modules to integrate into my home layout.
