Very nicely done article. It is very interesting to me, a relative novice in getting this level of detail and realism. Thanks!

Hi guys. I just wondered upon this thread. Had no idea it was started. Thanks a bunch guys for the kind words. I would like to say that MR did a fabulous job presenting the article too. What I sent them was pretty simple and they took it a step farther in the way they presented it. They want me to do one on Hawk's Garage and combine it with detailing Farmall M tractors. I may go ahead and do that one too one of these days. I'm not really comfortable with writing articles. Remember, I'm a retired art teacher and not a language arts teacher. LOL!!!! Throw a box of crayons in a room with me and I'm happy! LOL!!!! =o)

          Tom,

I finally got to actually read the article this morning. Again, good stuff! I don't have the magazine in front of me but one of the scenes was photographed from two different angles. The text said that the road would appear to curve when viewed at a slight angle and the photo sure seemed to prove that. However, was the "slight angle" photo doctored? It seemed to be too good. If you aren't sure what I am talking about I will get the photo / page numbers later (I'm at work at the moment).

          Thanks!

          Joe

Tom great job love the tractors. I have a good amount of farm scenery on my layout and would love an article on how you finished the tractors. And remember you can write with those crayons[:-bouncy][:-bouncy].

              Again great job.

Congratulations Tom. I read the article last weekend. Now I know how to run roads into the background. The photos in MR looked just like the road ran into the background and you couldn't tell where the background began and the road stopped. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same thing one of these days.

Candy go to the Mid Scale Model Forum on the second page you will find Finished Hawks Head Garage. It has some of the photos of the road going into the background and the tractors Tom finished.
