    • John. In answer to your question, you are right. Even worse the Surry Parker loader was never used in the west where my railroad is set as far as I know. It should straddle the tracks and log cars are pushed under it and pulled out as loaded. I am just happy where it is, although someday I may move it.

      Thanks Rick.

      • I may add, John- don't forget this is the dark side. Stranger things have been known to happen.

        • It is a fantastic model and the scene is beautiful. I feel bad about even questioning your modeling skill.

I look forward to catching up with the sawmill build. The machines you are building look so real.

            • What type of glue do you use when you are assembling your machinery kits? They look so good -- I can see no traces of excess glue on any of them.

I have tried building a similar structure in Large Scale and I was never able to complete it because my fingers were not nimble enough to keep things in alignment.

How do you keep all the parts in their proper places as the glue is drying?

              Your work is magnificent.

              • John, On most of the machinery I used Super Glue Gel, sometimes a little Gorilla glue. I try to be very careful and clean up any excess as soon as possible. I never worry about how fast I can get something built and sometimes just do one part a night. If I feel a part will need to be propped to hold it in position I work that out before I glue the part. Usually I use flat toothpicks

I have been sick with a really nasty cold for the past 10 days. All I have done is cough, sniff, and sleep. I am anxious to get the roof framed.

                • I had started on the roof before I got sick and was able to get some time in last night and a lot of time today. Here is where I am at. I have to build he other half of the clerestory window frame then glue it to the framing. Then rafters to support the roof deck. All of what shows so far is made from 6x6 and Tichy windows.

                      • Back again with an update. Half of the roof is complete. The shingles are from Paper Creek. I only had one sheet so I made copies. I hope this is legal since they have gone out of business. I would not have done it otherwise. Then they had to all be cut out. When I sat down in front of the TV to start cutting, Mrs Hopeless asked if I wanted any help. She ended up cutting most of them out. Lucky me.

The second picture is just a shot through the front door.
