    • I finished the pump and oil tank today. The base is hydraulic cement, helps me get the color right. The pump is a collectable, repainted, that I found at a car show. I don't remember were I go the tank. It has weld lines made with Elmer's glue, but they don't show to well in the picture. The oil buildup is dirt sprinkled on wet paint then painted black. Tonight I will plant it in dirt near the enginehouse.

      • That is just awesome!!!

What is hydraulic cement?? That is one of the best slabs I've ever seen.

        • Well, you've done it again.

Yet another masterful piece of modeling.

I especially like the spilled oil.

          • Jerry, I just answered your question and when I tried to post something ate it. I'll try again. Hydraulic cement is almost baby powder fine cement. With a little water it mixes into a soup. I think it is used to repair cracks in sidewalks and such. I just made a frame, poured it in, and after it set pulled the frame away. It came out just the way you see it. The brand I use is Drylock and can be found in any hardware store. It can be quite brittle and needs to be handled carefully.

Rick thanks. I really enjoy small projects like this.

            • Roland', that is excellent use of hydrolic cement that is used for stopping water leaks in

cement/brick basements. I have used it many times, but DUH'.. never thought to use it in modeling. What a great idea Roland'...BTW. that is an excellent pump and tank. (outstanding).

                      • You guys are making me nervous. I thought masterpieces were done by dead people. I can't die yet, I have to much to build yet. I can take no credit for the slab. I just poured the cement into the mold and whatever happened after that was pure chance. Using dirt for built up grimy oil came from Chuck Doan. Mine is nowhere as good so no closeup pictures.

Last night I planted the slab in the dirt and finished going around the enginehouse.

Thank you all for your comments. Roland

                        • I think that when they made the masterpieces they were still breathing. Great stuff.

                              • Thanks Mario, I spend a bit of time wandering around your site looking for inspiration.

Jerry, Thanks. Larry, nice to know I don't have to be dead

Here is a photo of the tank in place. Nice to have a picture with no foam showing.
