      Roland, shame on you for hiding the exquisite layout from us.

      Phenomenal layout of the structures and the scenery looks perfect.

      Now that the cat is out of the bag I hope we'll get to see more as you add to what you've already done.

        Now that's a pretty good start you have there. It looks like you've been really busy behind the scenes. Excellent job so far is there anymore???

          Roland, I was sure that the pics of your layout in the works would be fabulous as is all your modelling. I was not disappointed, they show some great logging scenes. Thanks for sharing.

            Thanks to all for the kind comments. To answer your questions, the layout is in a 11x10 room. 2ft wide around 3 walls and a 16inch wide center section. Kind of an E shape. I have indeed been influenced by the Red Stag, and also the Dolly Varden Railroad. This is the first time I have had enough room to combine elements of both. The EH will sit at the end of the center section which also will have a small freight yard. I will try to take some photos of the styrofoam areas and post a track plan after I draw one up.

            Thank you again

              Great looking start Roland and as usual no skimping on the details within the scenes. Looking forward to more as you progress.

              Dang thats alot of caspia twigs to place in all those trees, thats one thing that puts me off making them, but, boy they really look great.

                Thanks Karl. Sometimes I set aside a month or so and just build trees. Usually takes an evening to do one. No hurry.

                  Roland, your layout is very impressive. I would love to see a mini-tutorial on how you do your trees as I have a friend who needs to build many tall pines like the ones you have built. Keep up with the fine work! :up: :up:

                    Hi. Here are some pictures of the rest of the layout.

                    This shows the left side as you walk in the door. In the far corner will be a town. In the center will be all trees

                    Right side. Far corner will be a sawmill, and the end close to the door will be the Dolly Varden wharf {my version}

                    Center will have a small freight yard and basic engine facility.

                        Nice Roland. You've done a good job in compacting it down to a fairly small space, especially for an On30 layout that still provides a number of operating potentials. Reminds me very much of the area I have for my home set up. The peninsular will make a really nice focus point upon entry to the room, especially with that fine engine shed as one of the first things you see. Great progress, please continue to document your fine work within the great little creative space you have there...

                        Cheers,

                          Excelent Roland, I love it, these are some of the views I want for my own layout. Thanks for the inspiration. At what height is your layout setup?

                              50 inches to track height. I went that high to fit a workbench under the layout. It's seems like a good height to work on also.
