How is the best way to remove factory lettering from MMI locomotives without damaging the paint?

Travis, I have had good success using MEK. The one thing I have found though is that to avoid leaving a bright spot where the lettering was, I have had to cover the whole side of the tender with MEK to remove the coat of clear that MMI puts on over the lettering.
