  • Alaska Images 2010

    Good day Crew,

Here is the start of the Alaskan images. Some if not most that I have posted here are for yours and my reference. Since most of the places we visited/toured are in an Alaskan Rainforest, with temps much like Maine I think much of what you will see here would relate directly to the images Troels and Frederic are doing. Places visited Juneau, Sitka, Ketchan, and Victoria.

    You know this water...

More in a few...900 pictures to wade thru. All compressed now.

Looking forward to this a lot, Les! Quite envious of your going there, so this mildens me...

            Les,

            Great pictures.

In my many visits to Alaska I have never visited this area as my time was spent visiting between Anchorage and Seward.

While the mountains and the water itself look familiar I would be interested in seeing all the pictures especially of any villages along the waterfront.

I love the pictures of the pilings and since I model a riverfront I just have to leave off the barnacles.

I assume you were on a boat tour and wonder if you were able to go on land?

I ask this since in another thread Pat (Belg) was asking about a the Libby cannery in Taku Harbor.

I see in your pictures a Taku Fisheries which I assume to be the same harbor.

here is the thread I am talking about.

Again, looking forward to more pictures.

Many nice pictures, Les, both from a simple aesthetic point of view and a modeller's one. Thanks for sharing, and hoping to see even more.

After a full day at sea we arrived in Juneau. We had 2 land excursions, 1 to visit a Mine and pan for gold, and whale watching.

These are from the AJ Mine tour...There was a lot of interesting modelable items here, infact I am contemplating some.

Railroad Supers house has slide down the mountain just a weeeeeeee bit. Original colors, this would be a fun model...hard to build it without reference images...

Well probably the last post for the night...

This hardware was at the bottom of the mine area where the mill was...much of Juneau sits on the tailings of this mine...they have a beach now.

This one might be worth modeling...would be a goodie..

                        More later...
