  • New Haven RR Structures

I got through building a couple of Walthers kits last week and thought I'd post some photos of them here. They are not completely finished and need some final details and internal view blocks but they now occupy a blank space on the layout that was only a couple of signs on paper.

The Meat packing plant which is now the Connecticut Beef Co. and the adjacent stock yard that was kit bashed to fit the space. This is now the F. Carlson Feed Lot in honor of a fellow model railroader friend of mine.

The first is the feed lot. It's ready for some dirt, cows, poop piles and puddles.

Next are a couple of shots of the Conn. Beef Co. buildings. My operators now have a place to go to instead of just a sign with a name on it.

Those are a couple of nice additions to your layout, Bill.

Looks good, Bill. You not only filled a blank space, you added to your operations.

Very nice, Bill. Now if you could only find a way to recreate the smells of a stock yard.

          Looking good, Bill!

Hmmmm.... Let's see, now.... A teaspoon of fertilizer, a couple of drops of water in it "to bring out the nose" and a tape recording of cattle should make you golden! OTOH, your operators might not return, so you might want to think about this....

Thanks guys. I live 3 miles from a feed lot. All I have to do is open a window when the wind is blowing right and; Viola! Authentic feed lot smell!
