"Building your next Model Railroad" book

Does anyone else remember this book? If I remember correctly he had a layout in there that you changed the era with structures but kept the same trackwork. Am I remembering the right book? If so, was the trackplan basically a timesaver?

The one I recall seeing was a 4' by 8' layout. All the buildings were built on platforms and you could just pull one out and add the next one. They had enough buildings to do three different eras.I can't remember if it was a layout book or in a magazine.
