Very nice work Karl, I can't wait to see how you tie it all together at the valleys. Pat

Thank you all for your posts and kind remarks, after just getting home from a long hard day at work it is very nice and encouraging to read them all.
I really dont have any castings Mark, just a few of my barrels and drums I made last year and a few other small odds and ends. I will probably end up scratching most of the interior stuff that I need.
I actually had the attic trusses glued in place this morning Pat before work but, decided to add in another detail dimension so took it apart again, I plan to work on finishing that area this evening, after I eat.
Thanks again,
Karl.A
(incidently the colour in the last pic is 'almost' exactly accurate. The flooring isnt quite as 'contrasty' as it appears in the photo but it will be blended a little further with chalks.)

John, I just finished posting an explanation of this method in the "trackside diorama" thread...
Here is the link...

Let me know if anything isnt clear.

Well, I finally got a couple of hours at the model bench tonight after a gruelling work week. Not much progress but a hurdle overcome nonetheless.

I have been so engrossed in deciding how to do the connecting rooflines that while I was just reviewing my previous post I realised from the pictures that I have completely forgotten to build and install the handrails !!!! :erm: :erm:
I forsee ALOT of cussing in the near future, (even more than usual) as I try to get them in there straight and looking 'right' without too much damage. Oh well.

Thanks for the plausable 'get-out-clause' Mark, but, I want them in there to add to the detail factor, I think it will also make the construction more intricate looking and interesting, atleast that is the idea..
Thank you for your kind words Peter.

But seriously, are we talking wooden railings here, or do you have some other cunning plan?

Thanks Simon
Yes they will be wooden railings like the ones down below in the split level area, but, they will have a 'wire mesh' installed to prevent any stray items rolling off the attic floor and hitting an LP on the head below. Also, after I get them installed in the tight space I will be trying to add some horizontal bracing attaching them to the trusses, for vertical stability.

Karl,
I think if you build the rails as an assembly and slide them in place, it'll work fine.
A helpful hint would be to put a bottom plate on the rail's assembly, offering more gluing surface.
It is prototypical to make up railings that way and install them after the flooring is down.
This info is just in case you didn't know this already (which I'm thinking now, you probably do)
