Today I attended the (very successful) Northeast Fallen Flags Railroad Prototype Modelers meet in High Bridge, New Jersey. I'd guesstimate that there were 60 or 70 attendees at the gathering which was held in a pleasant space on the second floor of the fire house there. For more info and a list of the presenters and vendors, here is the group's website:

The Itallian buffet luncheon was surprisingly good and all the presenters were right on the mark. I particularly enjoyed Dave Goessling's talk on the history of railroading in the High Bridge area. The now sleepy country community was once a bustling railroad town.
Here's a shot of about half the room--

About 10 people brought models to display (all were HO.) Here are a couple that I especially liked by Wayne Sittner--

and

I wore my NSS cap to the show today. At one point Sam Reynolds, who I've never met before, came over to me and said, "What's a National Speleological Society member doing at a show like this? (!) Turned out that Sam is a fellow retired caver. He's originally from Indiana and did most of his serious caving there and in the Mammoth Cave area of Kentucky. (Most of my caving career was spent in west Virginia.) Funny thing is, I know several cavers who are either railfans or modelers. Wonder what the connection is?
Since Speedwitch Media had been listed as a vendor I hoped that Ted Culotta would attend the meet. I have really enjoyed his excellent RMC articles but never met him. Ted did show up and we chewed the fat for a while. Here are a couple of models he had on display--

and

When I later went over to take a picture of Ted, whom should he be chatting with but RMC editor Bill Schaumburg! So here's a shot of Ted and Bill--

I'm really sorry that some of my RR-Line buddies couldn't make it to the show today. It was fun.
