  • Layout update. Going from 8x12 to a 12x12.

Well I finally got a job (FedEx), and I can start to expand my layout. I just wasn't to happy with what I had. I still got to see where I am putting my new tables/track plan. I had to move the shelves, and its going to expand a little past it. Here's a few pictures, with more to come!!!

    After (for now):

Congratulations on the new job. What are your plans for the expansion?
Built a waterfront HO layout in Ireland http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22161 but now making a start in On30 in Australia http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=52273

Neil....I will keep the upper part the same. I had a train just going around in a circle. The lower part has all of my switching.

I plan on having a "yard". I haven't had a decent yard in a layout yet. Maybe some more industrial plants, etc. I just wanna make sure its done RIGHT!!

As far as the job, I ended up pulling some muscles in my forearm. So I had to take a few days off. What sucks more is, I can't do much to the layout.

*Note* The one table is not going to be in that position. Plus the hill is just off of the old mountain. I didn't wanna tear it up.

          Hi Robby,

I'm happy for you that you got your new job. It's always fun to see a railroad grow. I look forward to your expansion and more pics![^]
Look out for #1, but don\'t step in #2!

Here's a couple of shots of the layout. Its going to be a 13x13, and not a 12x12. It just worked out easier that way. I would have to do some cutting, and just didn't feel like it [^]. I'm moving pretty good with it. Its not moving at all, nice and solid!!

              Robby,

              Looks good.

I would strongly advise you to add some cross braces for further stabliziation. Even 1x3's will do the job, but looking at the photos above, none of your legs have any kind of diagonal support, and that is making me cringe a little.

Arthur......I was thinking the same thing. I will look into that today. Its sturdy up top, but maybe the bottom needs to be as well
