    OK, who's going?

And, should we try to get together? perhaps during the National Train Show?

I will be there the full week. I plan to go on a pair of layout tours. I am also signed up for a "make and take" clinic on using the Fast Tracks turnout jigs. Outside of that, I plan to go to clinics, wander around the contest room, and spend some time at the membership booth at the Train Show.

I'll be there Wed - Sun, with most of Wed and Fri-Sun spent with the Hub Div. Modular Layout at the National Train Show.

        Bruce,

You are coming back up for the Train Show, right?

I'll be there all week. In theory....

Well...while I won't be there except on Saturday for the Train Show, some of my photos will be entered in the Photo Contest. The NMRA Conventions are great - I attended several, years ago - but recently the various basic fees and extra-cost facets have put the conventions far out of reach for me and I'm sure many others.

One of our club members is going, and I was overwhelmed at the costs he quoted, around $180.00 per night at the convention hotel, plus $22.00 a day parking, banquet $80.00, layout tours in the $80.00 range, etc. (just quoting from memory, these prices could be way off either way). He's staying at another hotel with free parking, plans to take the bus to the event.

The costs are sure are making it out of reach for many of us!

Hope those who can make it have a great time! And with all of the fine model builders on this forum, be sure to enter some models in the contests and bring home some awards!

I'll be there all week - stop by and see my Clinic "Helix Design Considerations and Building the Behemoth Helix" Sunday at 10:00 pm and Monday at 1:00 pm.

              I don't think you'll be bored!

I live about an hour from Hartford, but will probably not go. No dough!

Hartford has a terrific clinic schedule thanks to John, the local clinic chair. I plan to see as many as possible. Go to the HN web site and get a copy.

I will be around the convention center all week. Look for the tall guy (6'5") wearing a train shirt (like that helps LOL).

                  Regards,

I would love to attend one of these, and Hartford is as close to Maine as the convention will be for a while, but the prices made me go WHOA NELLY. Besides, I learned yesterday that Paul McCartney will be playing in Boston in August and I think I will save my pennies for that. Center stage front tickets are only about 3,200 dollars. Lordy! Thank goodness they have tickets for around 200 dollars. It's been 44 years since I saw the Beatles at Suffolk Downs in Boston and figured this is as close as I'll ever come to seeing them again until I get to rock 'n roll heaven.

Well, like many others I guess, I won't be going. While it's close enough to home to consider it, the costs of this convention are way out of my budget. I hope everyone who goes has a great time, and be sure to take lot's of pics!!!

Well I live two hours away, and the convention price is also out of my reach. But, I'll be going to the train show open to the public on Saturday.

I would love to go, but, alas, it is once again waaay to far for me to travel. [:-cry] I wish the powers that be would remember that there are lots of us MRs down here in Dixie. The venues are always out west, up north or along the eastern seaboard. How about New Orleans, Mobile, Memphis, Birmingham, Little Rock, Chattanooga, Shreveport, or Baton Rouge for a change? Most of these are within a 3-4 hour drive for me, which I would gladly make. The best I can manage is a SER regional convention. These are great, and in fact I'll be presenting my second clinic at the 2010. But the National would be awesome!!! Have fun!

                              Thanks Bob!

Atlanta is about a 6-hour drive, but for a week-long stay, that is reasonable. From what you mentioned about the costs involved, I should start saving now!
