  • 2-6-0 tender construction question

    on the a real 2-6-0 what material was the tender deck (the part the tank sits on) and the side and ends made from? I am pretty sure that most (if not all) tender decks for those locomotives were wood plank, but were the sides and ends also wood?

    Most early narrow gauge engines had wood frames and wood decking. Lumber decking was also used in later years, as it gets replaced due to use and age. Lots of smaller engines also used wood frames fairly late as the majority of narrow gauge engines were manufactured prior to the 1920's
