  • Finished BVM Box Car

So i finally finished a kit to the end. Well i guess not as it has no markings on it yet but that is hard when my railroad doesn't exist and therefor has no name.

Anyway this is the one that appeared in the on30 lounge a while back and i was not happy with it. It went back to the paint shop the other week with a dark grey undercoat again with some areas darker then others so it shows in the final coat. Then Box car red then just black powders and a thin wash. Then the details painted with a powder rust mix and im finally happy with something for once.

    Adrian,

    That looks very good.

Now if I send you all my BVM cars will you give them the same treatment for me? LOL

Nice job Adrian! I have a few of those to put together - I like the color and

may try to duplicate it on some BVM ore jennies I have. Well done!

              Adrian

Very nicely done and some very realistic weathering: used but not abused.

                      Adrian,

Your boxcar sure looks good. I can almost imagine a brakeman hanging off the ladder as she goes rocking and squeaking over the tracks behind 3 or four others.

I like the feel of this little jewel, good job!

Very nicely done, Adrian. I may have to pull out one of mine and give it a try.

Larry i found that doing an undercoat that was all the one color made the car two plain. The Floquil box car red i had was very thin so i couldn't build up dark areas and get much variation in the top color hence the reason i mixed greys and black to get a darker undercoat to over spray. The only powder on the wood is black and thats it. Just have to take your time.
