This thread is one of a series of threads intended to help RR-L Forum members who are also members of the NMRA and are working within the NMRA’s Achievement Program. This is not a thread to debate the pros and cons of either the NMRA or the Achievement Program. For a full explanation of the purpose of these threads, members should refer to this thread on the forum: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/t...TOPIC_ID=24676
This could be one of the tougher categories for some. It requires the modeler to build three pieces of motive power (Steam Locomotive, Diesel Locomotive, Electric Locomotive, Rail Bus, etc. One of them has to be scratchbuilt. The other two could just be ‘super detailed’. All three have to earn a Merit Award. If you follow this link, you can find out more information on the requirements of the “Master Builder – Motive Power” Certificate. http://www.nmra.org/education/achiev...ap_motive.html
We do have member of the forum who have experience in this area. One is long-time member Wallace. Here are links showing some of his scratchbuilt HO steam locomotives.

We also have some great examples shown in the work of our On30 guys.
I hope that members who have scratchbuilt or super detailed locos will add their links to this thread. It would prove very helpful for any members working towards this particular AP certificate!
