All together now - sing " happy birthday to david's wife ".
And to celebrate, she's gone off for a girly weekend!
Hooray, that leaves me free to go to the Narrow Guage North Exhibition in Leeds.
Now here's something different, Tomorrow and Sunday, you folks can log into http://www.narrowgaugenorth.org.uk/ and there will be a new menu item 'Webcam Live!'. Clicking this will take you to the Narrow Gauge North 2009 Webcam.
Will try and force myself to the front of the stands to take photos for you lot unable to get there.
Thanks for the coffee and bagels Geezer, and many congratulations Frederic!
Still mostly work and visitors, but I have been thinking about my loco roster, or lack of same. Since I'm modeling Maine, I have of course aquired Forneys as the main workhorses. I have a Porter with added tender too and two different rail-buses. But I'd like a tender loco more for variation and delight. I think (although I'm sure it's not kosher...) I'll settle for the tiny Bachmann inside frame American. I know everyone loves the new, bigger outside frame, but although the inside never ran in Maine, it was after all a two foot locomotive in Mt. Gretna. Maybe the Coast Line manager saw it there, and decided to get one too...
So if someone wants to sell their small inside frame 4-4-0... maybe even a sound equipped one? Hehe...
Good morning everyone and thanks for the coffee Geezer, and David, wish you with Happy Birthday for me. I don't know who is luckier, you or your wife, enjoy the show. Troels, as for adding an American 4-4-0 to your roster I had the opposite problem, I model is based in British Columbia and now currently show 3 Forneys on the roster, in fact my Forneys out number my Americans 3-2, although I did buy one Forney as kit bashing fodder.
No modeling lately as I've been busy with life and tonight I'm operation at a friends layout. I should get some modeling in this weekend, I need to get my saloon build finished as it will be part of a presentation I'm giving in a couple of weeks.
Cold day here, with snow flurries. As some of you may have noticed I did some painting and assembly of the next to the last 2-6-6-2T loco. I did the updates on that thread. Last night I did some of the detail and will likely finish up this weekend on that. The last 2-6-6-T will be a Booth-Kelly-like model, with dual tanks on the sides.
It's raining here, lots of house repairs to do so modeling time will be limited again.
I am waiting on some car kits to arrive so I can work on my other challenge entry.
I went through some boxes I had not opened in 10 years and found a ton of old roco and minitrix track with 9" radius turnouts. I think that a few more ON18 micros may be in the works soon. I also found an n scale 4 wheel brill trolly that will make a great little ON18 engine. Geezer I found what you need and will ship it next week.
David, wish the wife a great Birthday and take lots of pictures for us at the show.
Ron, Geezer, Troels, thank you. I'll try to stay quiet at the throttle.
David, happy birthday to your wife and enjoy the exhibition.
Today, I added some shelf supports, two pieces of medium (thin wood, about 1/8" thick and much more pleasant than masonite) to finish the support for the backdrop on one of the walls, and then it was time to go and see the children's carnaval at school. A pleasant, full of colors, din, with many parents enjoying a nice walk with their children and a nice spring day, sunny and almost hot at about 70F.
All this wood work is really pleasant, although it is not real modelling.
I will open the lounge this morning, who turned the heat down? its cold in here. I'll start a warm fire, put some coffee on, and start breafast. The rest of you all bring in some wood and wash up.
Last night I finished up the 2-6-6-2T, I will post some pics this weekend. On the heals of that finish, I pulled apart my Porter, trying to figure out which version I had. Thanks to that thread, I have a plan. Mine will get sound, and will have Arizona Mining look to it. I don't expect that to take more than a week. Next up will be the forney that sitting on the prep workspace.
Good morning/afternoon, and thanks for the coffee Les! Beautiful spring weather here, with birds singing and all. There's hopein the end of the line! I'll try to get some modeling in tonight.. can't stand being away from the scratchbuilding day after day!
