    • Morning Art- Good to hear from you as always. Nasty damp & chilly here this morning...

3 more days til I can get some MRR in...Going to surf for a work bench today or draw up

some plans and build my own custom bench. I am thinking 28-30 inches wide and 6 feet long

so I can have two stations. One for assembly and the other for soldering etc.

Coffee & grunts are available for those who wish to partake...

      Enjoy the day -

      • Good morning, the Bradford Pear trees have started to bloom so the area is now a different kind of white.

        Geezer,

        Thanks for the coffee.

Arthur, good to hear from you GWG is game winning goal in Hockey stats.

To all have a great day.

        • Good morning everyone and thanks for the coffee Geezer, can really use one this cold morning (well not as cold as Tom's version).

Arthur, good to hear from you again, as for my "hot water tank" issue, I have a simple solution, I'm not buying any more houses.[^]

Geezer, I would seriously rethink the size of your workbench, I've learned the hard way that the bigger the workbench, the more "stuff" it collects and no matter what size of workbench I have only 1 square foot is used as a modeling area.

          Have a great day everyone.

          • Geezer- thanks for the java; woke up this morning to an inch of white stuff and coming down enough to make morning drive miserable. After a couple weeks of 55-70 (unusual) it's Brrrrr this morning! Good to see some moisture down here, though (on the plains- mountains are getting plenty in Colorado).

I'm with Ron regarding your bench; for me the way to go is shelving ABOVE the bench to organize & store all the projects. If I expand my "workspace" it quickly seems to turn into "junk space" with piles of unfinished projects everywhere. I've ended up buying things twice 'cause I forgot I had the part - "somewhere".....

              • Thanks guys for the advice....will take it into consideration....

Yeah Mike...I probably have 2 or 3 of those lost items. Micro Mark loves me!

Maybe not that wide, but certainly that deep, as I tend to put the box of

parts/structure infront of the space where I am working. So, shelving sounds good,

but the drawback will be that it will block the natural light from the windows.

I will kick some ideas around and ask for advice again....

Tom - Does it ever get warm enough to fish in a boat instead of

                through "hard water"????

                • Geezer, I hope you didn't take what I said about the benchwork size too seriously as I said it tongue in cheek (I guess I should have stated that in my last post). In my case it is true as I couldn't keep my work bench clean and tidy if my life depended on it. If I were to take a picture of my workbench when I get home tonight I think I would find 1 square foot of cleat area in which to work in, if I'm lucky.

                  • No worries ROn...no offense taken!

If I can find it, I will post a picture of my "normal"

situation at the workbench...LOL! I posted it before,

but cant remember the thread. The bench is in the

build/buy stage anyway. Good bet for the "buy"

thing, it will save me a lot of time, but at the

sacrifice of a few custom ideas.

                    Thanks for the response.

Try to find an old fashion, solid, wood desk. You and I can remember them while most out there can't. [:-mummy]

                        Yeah,

I spent the last 5 years shutting down the company I worked for. We sold the wood desks (and everything else) off really cheap. I bet you could find them even cheaper these days.

Took a bit to get the lounge door unlocked but with a little de-icer it is working fine now ..

Back to work in the tunnels ...

                          • Good afternoon everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Tom. Good luck with the tunnels. Are there shots of them somewhere?

Weather is great here today, temp must be more than 50F. Much better than a very windy and rainy yesterday.

With the windmill done, I'm about to start the saguaro story. Little gray cells will have to work again...

I've just ordered from one of my French friends two Bachmann GE44 to modify them to On30. My friend seems to also own some BVM transkits which I might buy too.

                            Have a good day.

                            • Frederic, You are slowly slipping into the dark side. Why not jump into our little challenge?

It is going to get to 80F here today, spring has sprung!

Have to hunt down some parts later for a brudder and may even get to do some RR stuff as the wife is going out.

                              • Tom- thanks, but I'm about "coffee-d out" for this morning. Nearly time for beans here in Colorado....

I'm getting itchy to start a project for ME, instead of eBay (to fund this sickness) so hopefully I can get into the next challenge, whatever it may be.

Geezer- thought of you and your bench-hunt last night; I quit tinkering early because I managed to bust my worklight- one of those pivot/swivel jobs with the magnifier glass.

I switched from HO to On30 and still have trouble with some smaller things (this aging thing stinks...). So tonight I'm shopping for another light/magnifier to mount on my little workbench!!
