  • Bachmann On30 low frame trucks

Hi all, looking for some help concerning the low trucks for Bach rolling stock.Bought a pair to try and of course no diagram or instructions as usual so here is my question.

They come with two flat washers and two coupler pocket screws. Where do these washers go? between the truck and the bolster? I tried them there and it works but the coupler is about .032 to low as compared to my Bach locos and stock cars with the regular trucks. And why do they include the pocket screws?

Hope this is not to basic a question but I have never fooled with the rolling stock as I have been busy on the layout building in the past few years.

I like the look with the lower trucks but how do I match coupler height with stock? thanks as usual for any help here from someone experienced in this matter...........Jerry

common guys where you all at?? I found some info on the Conspiracy but not enough to help me out. From what I can find you need the lowered frames and #148 Kadee couplers but no one mentions the trucks. For now I am just changing back to the stock until I can get some helpful info............Jerry

Sorry Jerry - All I could come up with is the couplers too. I use either the up turned or down turned shafts. I can get the numbers for you, I just ordered about 10 apiece. Those & the washers is the only way I know how to fix the heigth problem.

Someone in a much earlier thread talked about these frames.

I am not sure if it was Bob - "Sodbuster" and / or PeterPools ....

Sorry I cannot help more ...

Thanks alot guys for the links, unfortunately neither addresses the new frames and truck combination. I am just going to order a pack of the new frames and play around with them and learn as I go. You would think Bachmann would put out instructions and so on concerning their products. They sent the trucks without even so much as a diagram or note as to their use and I am sure the new frames will be the same. I love their stuff but their information or lack of it is unbelievable. Well I installed the new #148 couplers and they work great anyway. Later.................Jerry

                        Jerry,

Sorry about that. I guess if I read a little closer you were talking trucks only. The new trucks and new frames will probably work out ok.

                        Please post what happens .....

Yes I will Tom, I just ordered a pack of the frames so I will know in a week or so. Now I have the low trucks and frames on the way so I will have all to compare and see how they go together. I am not sure if the new cars I just got have the new frames or the old. Like I said Bachmanns info stinks and since they are changing all the new cars to the low frame it's even more confusing. Jerry
