Hello all,
One of my pet peeves when looking at my locomotives is when I put in a good deal of time weathering it, I am always put off by the shiny running gears that look as clean as the day they came out of the box.
Now I am formulating a solution to those locomotives that have tenders- I am going to wire the tender, and this will allow me quite a bit of room for error when painting the drivers. This is what I have to do with my Christmas 2-6-0 anyway because the wheels are bright red.
But I have ordered a Climax, and a Shay is also on the way, so I would like to solicit everyone's opinion on what to do here. I just can't see myself not doing something about shiny running gears.
I have heard of neo-lube and it looks like a good solution.. but what about regular spray paint if put on lightly enough? Also weathering paint?
Also if I use bragdon's powder on the climax and the shay, will it jam or gum up the gears?
Thanks in advance for your consideration and any advices you may have..
Arthur
