  • A fond farewell!

SO, come March these forums will be closed.

Just wanted to take a moment and let all of you Early Rail guys know that I very much enjoyed my time here with you. Especially back when I was seriously considering modeling the late 19th century myself.

However, even after my decision to focus on one theme (my diesel theme), I still enjoyed seeing the progress and watching your layouts and projects come to life.

You are some very good modelers and very helpful.

It has been a great run!

I do hope you all will move en masse to another forum so the camaraderie and project sharing can continue among you. The forums over at Model Railroad Hobbyist are free, well moderated, and maintained regularly. (MRH hosts my KC&G blog.) Plus, I'll bet if enough of you show up and start posting to some common threads, I'll be you could coerce owner Joe Fugate to open an "Early Rail" forum there, too?

Anyway, if that doesn't come to pass, just wanted to let all of you know that it's been a pleasure interacting with you and seeing your model and layout projects! I wish nothing but the best for each and every one of you!

Well, when you get tired to the stink of diesels, you know where to come for the sweet smell of coal, steam and lubricating oils.

Andre, the good news is that because of the generosity of some members, the Forum has been saved and will continue on. Please pass the word and I do hope that there is no mass exodus elsewhere.

In the meantime, to ensure that that generosity does not go to waste, I'm hoping that our loyal members like yourself will continue to generate great content here on the Forum as you have done in the past, and also will invite new members to join.

Updates on what we are doing to save the forum will be posted in the Crew Lounge.

This is good news. I will go find the thread concerning RR-L's demise and share the latest news.
