  • Issac's Iron Works (Bar Mills' Jerry's Small Engine Repair)

Time's a wasting. Now that October has arrived, I realized that our 5th Great Grandchild will be born later this month and I've only built one structure in the "Great Grandchild Series" That was for Aubrey, the oldest. Here is Aubrey's Apparel (a repurposed 70 year old kit from Summit Engineering):

The next oldest of the youngsters is Aubrey's Brother Issac. The business bearing his name will be Issac's Iron Works. Our youngest son gave me the Bar Mills' "Jerry's Small Engine Repair" kit last Christmas, so I will use that as the basis for the build.

Looking forward to this Bruce. Bar Mills do great looking designs for their structures.

Looks like a fine project. Bar Mills kits are great bones to modify and adapt.

That looks like an enjoyable project. It'll be interesting to see what you do with the kit.

                  Bruce,

Looks like a fun project. The Bar Mills kits always look good. I assume you will deviate from the instructions?

Bruce, I've always liked the Bar Mills kits.
                    Have fun building it.

Thanks for checking in George, Mike and Rick. I will probably stick quite closely to the kit instructions except for the signs and roofing materials.

I've done some initial painting. Rattle can of light grey primer then an over coat of a pecan brown from another rattle can. On the walls of the main structure, I've left some of the grey show through. A darker brown for the trim.

I love the fact that they laser cut the rafter tails!

Here is the other parts of the kit.

And finally the detail castings that came with the kit - I haven't started cleaning them up yet.

Great start Bruce. The walls look like they are very thin. I've never built a Bar Mills kit.

Curt, they are 1/16" thick, but small enough that they won't need much (if any) bracing.
