  • Thursday Morning Lounge

Hey! How about some breakfast! I've put out a pan of scrambled along with bacon, hash browns, bread for toast, and maple syrup. Why the syrup. Because I got the waffle maker out of the cupboard and made up a batch of waffle batter for those patient enough to wait. Meanwhile, Spike Driver Blend coffee is in the urn, oats at the end of the table.

If we get out in time we will walk a bit. I might do some wiring in the basement. This evening is swing dance practice and an open mic after that.

    Have a nice day.

    Mike

Maybe a not quite so hot and miserable day today, but there's room for error there,

Coffee and my next to last blueberry bagel () .....

Gardens are faring well; have to water tomorrow for sure. If the temps drop a bit, maybe some yard work over the weekend.

Home office morning processing manuscripts and inviting reviewers......and it's beginning to get old,

Rest of the day is in the shop at the bench plodding on across the tundra mile after mile to wherever the end point might be today.

Library book and US Open in the afternoon; good combo for promoting the time of the great nap. Football tonight......more napping? We'll see....

    So it goes...

Good morning, Mike and crew. Tidewater Virginia is headed to the mid 90's. I just finished a walk and have some yard chores to do before showering.

I spent some time at the workbench waiting for glue and paint to dry. Probably the same today.

Sunny and really nice in SE NH. 69 on its way to 75, low humidity. And That's A Good Thing, because there's still no signs of A/C repairman. I'm sticking with the company I called, because they have a good reputation and knowledge of Lennox systems. If it gets too hot, I can re-install the window unit I had to buy to survive last July when the previous HVAC company left us hanging (that's the company who sold us the system and we were on their 'contract priority' program, so I fully expected better than I got.)

And the stupid Arc Fault breaker hasn't popped since I started swapping out bulbs in its circuit to see if I could find the bulb that might be triggering it. I still have a couple more bulbs to test, then I'll go install the "new algorithm" breaker Siemens sent me to try.

In the meantime, after some errands, I'll get back to the trestle. I found some 1/16 x 1/2 basswood strips that I can rip down to 1/16 x 1/4 to use as the 'bolsters'. And I'll trace the chalk mark for the track with black Magic Marker, so it'll be visible when I flip the paper over. With luck, I'll start on cutting and assembling the joists, lots of custom cutting/angles to do on the precision sander.

          Morning all.................

Spike Driver Blend coffee is going down well.

Still waiting on wire to start installing switch machines and their respective control panels. But, I can cut panels and paint today........I don't need wire for that.

Mail notice says my new DCC & Model Railroading book is out for delivery. This is the latest by Alan Gartner. I had the pleasure of knowing Alan way back as we both were members of the Southside Model RR club in Dallas. When I first met him, I thought I had run into "Bubba Skinner" from " In the Heat of the Night" TV series.......quite a resemblance.

I put a mess of pork chops in my Crock Pot (the single mans best cooking tool) last night cooking Cajon style. Tasted a while ago and they are larruping !

          Everyone have a great day....John

Define “a Mess of…” pretty common terminology in my GA/FL maternal side…some times the qualifying FINE…is added as well…certainly a kitchen term…;=)

"a mess of" is more than "a bunch" and less than "a boatful"...

I my case, a "mess" of pork chops was two over stuffed packs of pork chops from the grocery store. I didn't count em, just spiced up each one and into the pot.
I guess the phrase " a bunch of " could have worked.
Odd no comment on the word " larruping ".
I think the phrase " a FINE mess" describes a situation that is not comfortable. Like you are in deep Do-Do. No reference to the amount of food being cooked.
            O K ............I'm done.
