  • Thursday morning lounge

Good morning crew, readers, and lurkers from 32f and cloudy without a flake (snow) on the ground in N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn is READY with Anthracite blend. The special is Luftwaffles and Knockwurst smoked sausage. Shredded wheat and rice krispies on the counter along with the milk. All other drinks at the end of the line.

Spent some time updating the mystery project and trying to figure out Youtube.

HC first, then gathering up 'stuff' to try and unload at Saturday's train show. With this economy, who knows how much will be back on the shelf out in the shop.

    Have a Super day!

Good Morning Jim and those to follow,

Started out with a walk at 50F and getting in the 70's later. I have some chores then I'm driving Dad to a VA appointment early afternoon. Probably no train room today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning, Jim and crew. It's going to be a nice day in Tidewater Virginia. Our primary task this morning is to finish packing. We're flying to LAX and tomorrow we're departing on a 28 day South Pacific cruise to celebrate Pat's birthday.

Good morning from S.E. Michigan where it is 33 degrees with the sun fighting with the clouds. We should get into the upper 40's later today. Rain will move in this evening. We still have plenty of snow on the ground, but that will change over the next few days.

I had a little time to putter around on the layout yesterday. More of that today. I did start adding rock and 'trees' to the backdrop. I think that I have something that I can live with. Since the shelf there is less than 11" deep, I'm trying to keep the backdrop to 1/2" or so.

      Have a great day!

Good morning! Installing LED light fixtures today. Overhead work on a ladder - getting out of bed tomorrow is going to be fun. Thank you for the coffee. I hope everyone has a great day.

Another cup of coffee and then I've got to get stuff together to run a list of errands today......

Might get into the shop to do some more painting and all later today.

Starting to sort stuff out to sell at the Harrisburg & Strasburg shows. Have to whittle down the piles of "stuff" and that.

Good morning, all. Jim, the Forum says you opened the Lounge around midnight; hope you didn't loose sleep over YT... I took the kid to a friend's house yesterday afternoon to talk about small sailboats. There's only one place around here where a beginner can sail a dinghy, but it's nice at high tide. My shop would build one, I've just never done anything with fiberglass.

The sky over Seacoast NH is clear and the sun is bright. It froze overnight but the guessers claim a high of 48F today. It snowed enough up in Maine that they put off the tie delivery, so today will be a layout day.

Actually, I type so slow, I try to type up part of the opening like the coffee choice and specia, so I can just edit it with weather conditions early in the morning. Last nite "I hit the button". Glad I'm not in charge of nuclear weapons. I've done plenty of fiberglas work when I was at a body shop.Wear the proper equipment if you get started on that.

            Morning all,

Today is my Friday. I scheduled a day off tomorrow. Not necessarily because tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, and my better half has a good bit of Irish in her. Just because I don't like the long stretch between our last holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr Day) and our next holiday (Memorial Day). I'll do some outside stuff tomorrow, weather permitting, and spend time at the workbench. But first I have to suffer through today.

            Have a great one!

Lots of niggling tech problems here today, and various company tech support have been no help. Weather at least is OK today. Wife has to show up at the hospital at 06:15 tomorrow, and it's a half hour drive. UGH!

add: After more back-and-forth with one vendor, I got told, "Your problem is fixed in the next release." (Kinda like "your check is in the mail.")

Sun despite the 100% precipitation forecast. It’s coming, hiding in the background, but I can hear the soundtrack from Jaws….yup still winter.

Stopped to buy at truck screw yesterday, the 2-56 screws were all in disarray at the helpful hardware Person store….so didn’t get any….$.51 each shocked the heck out of me…no deals to be found online, either. Silly to spend $10 shipping on something so little. Spend it on gas driving to the store….

No big plans today, a couple of Blueboxes to shake and see if I can find a spare truck screw in the pile o’schtuff on my workspace. “The Tool” for dressing truck axle bearings is MIA as wells as my IM a wheel sets…I do know where my wheel weights are.

Mike at Geezers is doing frittatas for breakfast, first thought was Snapon Tool calendars, but no it’s a potato omelet that isn’t quite an omelet and sounds good. Mmmm, better than jalapeños and chorizo still lingering in the lower quadrants.

Time to run folks, enjoy the day, it’s a gift….but not from Brandon and the DC plunderers…

https://www.microfasteners.com is where I go first for small screws, etc. Good prices, quick shipping. They show up at Springfield, so you know they're committed to us hobbyists.

I have purchased from Micro Fasteners as Dave has suggested, but also shop Bolt Depot for the majority of my screws, nuts and bolts. Might want to compare prices between the two. Either is much cheaper than hardware/big box stores.
Shipping at Bolt Depot is cheaper than most, plus quick shipping.

Jim, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.

                  George, happy birthday to Pat.
