Rob,
Very cool, and as you point out, unusual. Not something you see everyday as a model.
Right by the tracks its going to be a little noisy. But if you like trains with your meal, ideal!

I've now made the outdoor pergola area to go with the cantina.
Used Evergreen 9mm sq tiles for the floor, glued to MDF. Then painted a terra cotta colour.
Made up a back wall with arches, also with MDF, and added stucco.
Used 5mm pine rods for the columns, and bass wood and balsa for the open top frame.
The bench seats I bought from Aliexpress, and with a bit of paint to tone down the plastic, they are very nice.
So here it is all together. Still need to add some figures and maybe some pot plants. and some junk out the back. Otherwise it's done.
It's been a fun little build and the outdoor seating area is something different to model.

Thanks Mike & Bruce.
Bruce, I really like the cliffs. Using ceiling tiles is an old method, but still really effective. Gives it those natural strata lines.
Looking forward to the waterfall.

More progress on the 'stream scene', with the backdrop finished just to the left of the stream. Today I will work on the right of the stream. I'm waiting for one more scenery item to arrive sometime next week, and then I will make the waterfall the goes from the bottom of that cut in the cliff down to the stream.

Thanks Mike. I spread the gap filler on, then stippled with a a sponge to how it would look, but the filler stuck up a bit too much.
So I then just went back over it with a coffee stir stick to give it a more trowelled on look. Very happy with it.
Well I had a good run on the building and got into a groove, so got it finished
I think it look good, and yes the bright colours are a bonus we don't often get to use.
Still need to add the outdoor sitting, pergola area on the side left.
The roof is just used white sandpaper, so naturally weathered.

Nice stucco, Rob. My guess is that it took time and care to get it even; you can't just slop it on.
With this project you're able to use the sort of bright colors that usually stay in the bottle.

Have added the window & door framing. Used 0.8mm balsa.
Although I'm using GL framed windows, the windows will be put in from the inside, so reverse side out and upside down for a recessed look.
The stucco shows up better in these pics.
I've finally got some colour on. Mixed grass green & white craft paints.
Have also added the doors. The doors are made from balsa. Added a piece of wider matt board inside the back of the door opening. Then build up the door framing in situ.
Also added some colourful timber headers.
Looking at it, the one over the front door has a sombrero shape too it. I used an end offcut from a coffee stir stick for the dome shape.

A very small update on the critter shed. I finally have the whole roof of the lean-to shed done.

I need another little structure for my Tequila Micro layout.
So I'm building a cantina. Used Gary Beaty's Station on his Puerto Barracho layout as a basis for my Cantina.
This is what his station look like.
Using matt board for the walls.
Walls asembled
For the stucco, I used watered down gap filler, to a consistency of toothpaste.
