  • Friday morning lounge

Good Morning crew, readers, and lurkers, kids of all ages. It's a balmy 34f and cloudy in N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn has flashed READY with 63" Driver blend. The special is a breakfast burrito w/wo chorizo. The oatmeal pot nearly empty is the alternative. All other beverages at the end of the line.

Had an interesting day yesterday. I went to the eye doctor to return the glasses that seemed wrong. They were, the 'lab' made the wrong prescription, and reversed the right and left lenses. A little too much 'English' in the left eye was creating headaches. Then I went to COSTCO, what a zoo! It was like a Saturday afternoon crowd. Some gal parked half-assed at the fuel pump, POS car wouldn't start after getting gas. Two lanes stopped, people trying to backup out of line, what a mess. Inside wasn't much better. An hour and a half to get gas, napkins, and a chicken.

My buddy who I've been working on his layout with, called my cellphone and suggested we meet for lunch. So I met him and we spent a couple of hours working on signals and I finally got home just about supper time. None of those 'happy' COSTCO shopper faces today!

Have a Super day! Order that Chicken online.

      Morning Jim, Rick and others,

Coffee smells great but I'm waiting on the Babe's fat cinnamon rolls to come out of the oven.

Yesterday I spent all day driving the Babe around looking for kitchen nick nacks and she found several. We had a late lunch and then home to unpack the goodies.

I'm at an impasse with the kitchen remodel until the new cabinet that fits over the new refrig comes in.

      Have a great day ya'll.

      Tom

Raymo forgot to mention it's sunny, and the winds have died down. So that's the big change from yesterday.

Today I'm "teaching" the geology class. The prof is away, so he asked me to lead a discussion of a paper he assigned. That's OK. I suspect we'll get out early :-) :-)

            Morning, all.

Supposed to get to 55 here today. I suspect that's the last time we'll break 50 degrees for awhile. I have a four day weekend. I have the basement to continue cleaning and some gifts to wrap. Hope to tinker with the layout as well.

31 here....and not very inspired. That SAD thing is dragging me down earlier than usual this year. Keeping busy in my shop helps, but it's limited. Did get out yesterday and ran errands; got gas for the saw and snowblower (and the car) - $3.079. It was $2.99 around the block for cash.

Might get 1-2 projects done today and getting close a 3rd; 2 are product reviews I have to write.......but I think that lets me clean up a lot of my work space, hit the re-set button on projects, survey the product review queue.

Maybe another cup of coffee or we might head out for breakfast.....probably no.

              So it goes...

In a time like ours seemings and portents signify. Ours is a generation when dogs howl and the skin crawls on the skull with its beast's foreboding.

Good morning to the entire crew. It is 31 and heading into the mid-40's later today under mostly cloudy skies. It is supposed to turn windy later on.

We got the tree up with the light on yesterday. Today we will add the ornaments and garland.

That, plus one short errand, and some work in the basement will fill up the day.

Good morning Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening the Lounge Jim. Nothing better than a cup of coffee to start the day off.

There you are with my best breakfast choice once again Jim. Thanks!

37 degrees and sunny, here in the Ocean State, Rhode Island today.

Not sure what today will bring.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. I'll see you all on the RR-Line Forum.

Good morning. Mid-twenties and frosty this morning in my little corner of upstate NY. At least the wind has died down. I'm "cow sitting" for my neighbor as he is headed south to visit family over the weekend. I'm busy using rattle cans on some plastic "stand in" buildings. Hopefully they will help a little to alleviate somewhat the current plywood central look of the layout until I find time to build permanent structures.
Tom & Dan, nice pics to start the day.
I hope everyone as a safe and rewarding day!

Grey #19 here in Middle west southern Michigan, headed to 45 then a plunge overnight to the 20s and return of the winds tomorrow. “A” ticket ride

Worked on layout! Airbrush painting rails for weathering. Used to be a 5 minute job with the spray camo, but odiferous objections outweigh the convenience . I find the MicreEngineering rails in the fastraks turnouts I used to make seem to cause the Vallejo Air paint to bead up some, but when I ballast and get ground clutter in no one but me will know. I did find one of the switches needs resoldering, not fun.

I found a matted and framed print: “Age of Steam” (c) David Tutwiler at a shop I’d taken the Doll to: Click image for larger version

I’d love to display it but it’s too huge. Probably will have her resell it and maybe make a buck or two. It is indistinct but looks like it might be CB&Qish.

Sun peaking at the moment. Guess I should get to it….whatever “it” is today.

Jim, been to Costco twice after joining as well as two other times to fuel up while in GR. Not impressed, crazy busy and “cheap” stuff in bulk goes South before it’s used. One good blast by some impatient clown in the parking lot would take any savings right out the window. Won’t renew,

You are correct about the CB&Q locos in the painting. A classic 05A Northern in the background. Not sure of the class of the foreground loco.

                      Mornin' All!

40 headed for 44 under the ritual grey blanket here in the northern mitten today. Gale warnings are up, and mariners are advised to stay home tonight and tomorrow. The Good News is that the antibiotics are apparently beginning to kick in and the sinus infection seems to be abating. Somewhat.... But this is still a good day to Not Go Anywhere, so that's my community service project for the day.... You're welcome.

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe.
