Firstly, thanks for all the hard work that has gone into, and always went into keeping the forum up and running.
I'm sure the massive transition wasn't easy and appreciate all the work that went into it.

A minor thing I noticed, I have an animated gif as an avatar. In some areas of the forum such as my profile and a couple of other areas it 'works'.
In my posts and in threads it doesnt... do I need to do something different or is it a simple 'check-box' in the forum page admin options that needs to be changed to allow it to show correctly in the forums, it always did before.
Maybe its just a file type option that needs to be enabled.

    Thanks again,
    Karl. A

I have also noticed that animated gif format files do not function here - is that disabled or do webp format animations work?

That's the odd thing about this - when I put a gif file in a post it looks fine in preview but is then looses animation after being posted.

        Thanks Bruce,

Indeed Jerry, it works in my profile page, and as mwbpequod says in the preview screen, also the "who's on-line" page.
But not next to my posts in threads.
So, obviously the 'base' forum software has no problems displaying the file in general.

Thats why I asked if it was a simple 'check box' option of allowed files on the 'thread/posts' set-up page.

Thanks for the input, responses and help.

          Karl,

Your Avatar picture in a thread post doesn't seem to be the correct size. It does not fill the whole square. Perhaps a larger size picture is needed. I the flag covers about 5/8ths of the outline of the box. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

The gif size is not the issue, the 'square' is the maximum displayable dimensions of the image within the page script.
As my gif displays correctly in other areas of the forum that is not the problem.
I'm still guessing that it is an administrative option within the page display parameters.

Did we ever get an answer about all this and why gif files don't work?
