Good morning all, from 35f and SNOW covered N.E. Indiana. 4" of SNOW yesterday afternoon and overnight. YUCK!

The coffee urn is READY with Kerosene rail heater blend, after the power came back on about 2 hours ago. Still waiting on the oven part, so it's bacon and scrambled eggs for the special. Grits and toast, Oatmeal with the raisins and cinnamon.

Rather unpleasant surprise snow storm, along with high winds had trees cracking out in the woods. Too dark to see what I have between the house and the road.

I had been working on signals before all the crazy weather hit. Karl might have got a taste of winter to the North of us. Wasn't even in the fore-guess. This morning is 'old crew breakfast', and I'll venture out slowly to test the roads.

That's it with a possible COSTCO stop on the way back from the Greek's.

    Have a Super day!

    Morning Jim and others,

Thanks for opening and the coffee smells great. Also smells of kerosene just a bit.

We had about an inch of liquid snow here last night. At least I don't have to shovel any of it.

I see the the Modelers Forum has been down for two weeks now and Jimmy has posted a note - "Who wants to take this website over?"

    Have a great day ya'll.

Good morning from chilled So. Central Wisconsin. It’s 30f degrees feeling like 19. It’s possible we get to the mid 40’s this afternoon. We got the white stuff as flurries yesterday. When it settled on the ground it melted!

The drones can’t fly in these high winds so the fence line inspection will be done on ATV’s again this morning. We have divided up the routes into 3 areas. With the consistent winds we have had in the teens since early Saturday I have been shocked we haven’t had any trees falling into the fences. None of the newly fallen have even impacted any of the trails, but there’s plenty down off trail. With Terry’s 6 we are at a record high of 72 horses boarding in the stables. Those fences keep the big critters within the property.

Jim, thanks for opening and besides the diet Dr Pepper I will have the oatmeal again with the raisins added

      enjoy the day

Good morning. It's a gray day in this part of West Virginia; 37F.

We arrived home safely from upstate NY, met by a very happy cat. I have a list of "must do's" none of which include model railroading here at home, so I don't expect much progress there.

On the other hand, our club layout is making great strides to having a running layout by the holidays. I'll be attending a work session later today.

        Have a good one!

        Mike

          Good Morning All,

Have a couple of small chores then I'm doing some quality train room time. We only got about 10 minutes of rain last night. Supposed to be 51 F tomorrow morning...yikes!.

TomO that is a huge amount of horses. I thought you only had a dozen or so.

I hope everyone has a good day.

            Good morning.

I'm a refugee from the "other forum" . I've been a member here for several years but only posted a few times, something I plan to change. Sunny and thirty three degrees to start the day in upstate NY. I tweaked my knee so I have an excuse to do some modeling and stay off my feet rather than work outside as I had planned.

Hope everyone has a safe and productive day!

What Rick said. Where abouts are you in upstate NY? I'm south of Rochester.

Good morning once again Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge Jim. And with the coffee. We just have to get that Coffee, it is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

57 degrees, and clearing today here in Rhode Island.

Not sure what my day will bring yet for todays modeling efforts.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

We had a long line of thunderstorms roll through last night just as we went to bed. I ended up spending some time on the floor with the dogs, who were very upset, until the storm passed... Earlier yesterday, I played with some wallboard mud for filling in cracks and shaping some small terrain features. Today I'll go back, wet the surface, and smooth that stuff out. Then I'll paint it to seal it, and see if I like the result.

                Good morning everyone.

Jim, thanks for the coffee and breakfast and you're right about 'Yuck'.

Weather in Dodge City today: Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 56.

Staying put today and doing meal prep and a nice hike later.

                Have a great day everyone.

Terry has 6 the rest are boarders. That’s why the trails (12+ miles)on the whole property are so important to us. They and the fences are needed to be checked daily. There is 1 acre allocated per horse for licensing purposes and there are 82 stalls available. There are 4 wash stalls with a veterinary on property with a vet in-house earning her Wisconsin license and 2 interns from the Vet School at UW Madison. It’s a big business for her that grew quickly during and since Covid. The stables are surrounded by another 700+ acres we own. Not bad for 2 city kids growing up.

                      Mornin' All!

I agree with the "Yuck" comments!!!

38, feels like 27, headed (they say) to 45, wind blowing like stink, with gusts to 37, and lots and lots of leakage from the grey blanket. Yes, "they" are using the "s word" in their guessery today, but so far we're OK, as the water temps in the Bay and the Big Lake are still in the high thirties or low forties. Inland is not so fortunate, but I haven't seen anything yet that indicates "problems" here. Da Yoop, OTOH, has accumulations of over six inches of white gifts from above, with more on the way, so I hope Karl is hunkered in the bunker downstate for awhile. And it's still October.... <sigh>

Jim, it's probably time to dig the big silver bullet out of the attic, hose it down and load it for the winter.... I have an insulated boxcar over on track four full of various appropriate coffee blends, so if we do get the rail strike, we should be OK here, but we need to get the yard crew to move the car to the warehouse dock.... Should be enough for all of us in there, and even some extra for folks like Louis to cart home if necessary, as long as they don't get greedy.

Errands today, then an exercise in "making" roofing paper. Haven't done this for over a decade, so this could be yet another cultural experience. We shall see....

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

Grey and wet. No snow here, just some “thick” raindrops on the windshield. Yes Peter, we’re in tropic So. MI, Cold and dry so far this morning. All we had was some fat flakes on the windscreen yesterday. Plus, wind rain and cold…

First aid to tend to, check back in -sliver removed, no permanent scars expected.

Well, the eagle landed, bills to pay. I get that task all fowled up when off away in da Nort…

Good afternoon! I'm late to the party but I have a great excuse - I was working on my layout. Wet snow here and the temperatures to go with. I'm in Michigan, below the thumb if you are familiar with the mitten thing we all do with our hand.

It's great to see all the Modelers Forum members here.

I hope everyone is having a great day.
