Good morning crew, readers, and lurkers! It's 41f and partly cloudy, I guess as it's pitch black outside. The coffee urn has signaled READY with Roundhouse Blend. The special is French toast, Canadian bacon or Sage sausage patties. The Oatmeal pot is full, and ready to go. All other beverages are at the end of the line. Please don't throw the silverware into the garbage disposal.

Well, I'd like to say I started on replace/build of the new layout, but I'd be wrong. I thought about it quite a bit though.

The real cook reported that 'the stove won't heat up'. She was correct. The recently 'out of warranty' glass top electric stove is 'not heating up'. The clock seems to be the only working function. That's a rather large clock sitting in the kitchen. So I killed the breaker to the stove, and sure enough the clock stopped. As I have a habit of DIY any problem repairs, I started into it. It is a 220V stove, so after removing the safety panels, I pulled out my trusty V-O-M and started probing around. Finding nothing, I put on the rubber gloves, reactivated the breaker at the power box, and started probing for voltage. 220V in, switched to a relay marked 12 volts to the coil. No 12 volts present, however the digital clock was 'on'. I shut everything down, grabbed a 12 wall wart and ran a couple of jumpers to the relay coil. I could hear the relay click. OK! Reactivated the main breaker again, tripped the relay, and no 220v output. Bad Relay! So I went to check for a replacement part online. I could get a replacement control board for $679 from an appliance parts center. OR I could cross reference the part number on the relay (made in the USA) at DigiKey for $7.53 with 3 day shipping., still faster than the appliance center.

I did get to watch the Jets take out the Packers. [thumbup]

    Have a Super day!

    Morning Jim and others,

My wife had to have the glass top oven 12 years ago and now she hates it. Sometimes I just don't understand.

Dolphins lost, Bucks lost, Jags lost, Gators and Noles lost - bad week of football for Fla.

    Have a great day all.

Stillers won, so for me that was OK. I got a lot of work done on the HOn30 roundhouse, as reported in a separate thread. Today it's geology in the morning and I think a retirement group meeting in the afternoon, so that probably ties up the day.

Good morning and story teller electrician Jim. You lost me at Electricity!

Thanks for opening and after once literally getting blown across the kitchen up north after trying to replace a poorly wired 3 way switch, I no longer do house electric issues except light bulbs. Wisconsin the So. Central part anyway is 34f degrees heading to 31. The winds are gusting up to 23mph and windchill now is 22. While watching the Packer/Jets debacle I could hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from my better 1/2 on Maui without a phone. Gee, I wasn’t there to comfort her at the end when it was OVER.

I will hit the oatmeal pot if I can find some raisins and the cinnamon. The diet Dr Pepper is already in hand.

We have the S… word in the forecast for this morning. I did a different type of retail shopping yesterday evening for me, no trains. Terry called and said did I need anything from Kohl’s. Rarely, so I said nope. She tells me last week when her and my sister Sharon went Xmas shopping for the grandkids they hit the jackpot in Kohl’s cash. The translation really is, they spent a lot on the grandkids. My sister use’s Terry’s card at Kohl’s. It was expiring so was I sure? So I looked just to make her feel better. A couple pair of leisure type Sketcher shoes and 2 jackets for now type Fall weather. Over 600 but after the miracle of a rare 40% discount and $320 in Kohl’s cash the bill was $44 with free shipping but taxed at the $610. Then they wonder why the retail box stores are struggling.

With the weather predicted, I am going to be indoors today. Make a few trees, swim and use the treadmill. Enjoy your day

              Good Morning,

Finished my walk. I was going to work on soldering resistors to the crossing signals but Dad asked me to drive him today to find a winter coat and boots for his OH trip in January.

TomO- Daughter took youngest grandson to Kohl's yesterday to buy him a suit for his homecoming dance. She also went there because of the 40% discount and Kohl's cash.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Rainy out and errands to run..... 2nd cup of coffee and 1/2 a sesame bagel and approaching functional.

Office and shop time the rest of the day.......finally almost back to (sub)-normal after Strasburg.

All the electrical discussion reminds me to get my supplies pulled for work at the house in PA. Got 1 wall heat unit to replace, another to pull and diagnose its malfunction - unit or bad breaker.......

                So it goes.....

Good morning once again Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge Jim. And with the coffee. We just have to get that Coffee, it is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

57 degrees, and rain most of the day here in Rhode Island.

Not sure what my day will bring yet for todays modeling efforts.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

                    Morning all......

Cooler weather here in west Texas........70s for a high upper 50s at night. But we are warming up again as the week progresses.

When I moved in to this house, it had an electric stove. After 2 months I had a nice gas stove installed. My electric bill dropped $100 and gas bill is only $28 +/-.
Plus being a single person, I do my own cooking and the gas stove is soooooo much better.

Went to my local grocery store (18 miles one way) last Friday. I haven't been there in about 10 days. Everything in the store had increased in price anywhere from 30 cents to over a dollar since my last visit.
Fortunately we have a Dollar Tree store also. Same brand mandarin oranges at Dollar tree are $1.25 ea but over $2 at grocery store. DT way cheaper on name brand can goods.

Sold an item on e-bay last week. E-bay says 5% fee on toys and hobby items. They hit me for 12.9% plus another 30 cents in fees. I cleared $123.00+/- on a $153+/- sale after the dust settled.

I am hoping to muster up some energy to do something today. Saturday and Sunday were spent mostly in the recliner. I never got out of my house shoes. It seems the old "want-to" is fading to "who cares". The projects I used to look forward to now are becoming more like work. Getting old I guess.

Need to get moving.......time is something you can never recover.

                    Take care....John

Rain with occasional “pudding” splats at times. Currently 37 driving around with the Doll.

Is there ever a time Kohl’s doesn’t have a “Sale” ? 40% off the price you never pay is logic only wives can ‘Splain…

Just stopped at Tractor Supply for bird seed, $24 for 40#, $23 for 20#, of course the 40# is about my GVW these days, Price is close to double from earlier in the year.

May poke around the layout once home, operative word may. I understand, John, totally.

                      Later all, be well.
