  • Friday morning lounge

Good morning crew, readers, and lurkers from 34f and clear N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn is READY with Fireman's blend. The special is a Ham, egg, potato, and cheese, casserole. Texas or rye toast on the side. Oatmeal pot is fresh along with the raisins and a stray banana or two.

I was a little concerned with the 'thumping' when I hit the brakes on the SUV. Sure enough the rotors were warped from the incident on the return trip. So up on the jack, and new rotors and brake pads took up most of the day yesterday. Donna says "you'll be dead, and still working on your own cars". I just can't let it go.

Maybe today, I'll get some 'hobby time' in at the bench. (unless an engine swap or something comes up ).

I see where the lumber market is supposedly 'crashing'. The local bigbox lumber yards haven't got that word yet, I guess. They sure knew how to jack up the price of their existing stock when it skyrocketed. Claimed "supply chain issues the reason for not restocking (or was it not as profitable) And now with lumber prices taking a hit, I'd bet we don't see a reduction in retail prices. Still wondering how a piece of 2" foamboard tripled in price during this gouging game. Oh, I guess that tablespoon of petroleum used to make a sheet of foamboard, was switched to inobtanium as justification for that hose job.

    It's always something - R. Rosannadanna.

    Have a Super day!

Good Morning Jim and those to follow,

Finished my walk and drinking a glass of water before getring cleaned up. I recieved the LRT grade crossing items yesterday. I probably won't be able to start putting it together until Monday.

We will probably be helping set up the show room for the 34th (I believe) annual FL Skunk Rescue Show today. It's like a dog show for domestic skunks (not wild ones). They are all descented and have zero smell. I think they have habits like both cats and dogs and use a litter box. They make interesting pets. The show is on Saturday.

I hope everyone has a good day.

      Good morning everyone.

Jim, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.

I'm in Garden City, KS today and the weather here will be: Sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon.

Today I'll explore this town and look for a nice place to camp for a few days.

      Have a great day everyone.
Follow along as my dog and I travel the country in our van.

Good morning Jim and the rest of the crew. It is 39 degrees and heading into the upper 50's under cloudy skies here in S.E. Michigan.

We've been tied up with various appointments the past few days. Just some grocery shopping and a few other errands to do today.

        Have a great day!

Good morning once again Jim, Curt, Rick, Bruce, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge Jim. And with the coffee. We just have to get that Coffee, it is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

66 degrees, and still rain for the day here in Rhode Island.

Starting a quick build idea today.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

Clouds, no sun, no…hmmm….scattered forecast, 60% rain in the icons and only 48, but already rotated thru most choices. So, best guess, look outside and see what’s happening. Hazy sun just now…

Things to do today. So better get at it.

            Be well all.

Looks like a nice day today.......and I'll probably end up spending it in my home office.

There & back from the grocery.....uneventful exercise other than the nutters out on the roads.

Have to pack up the car to go to the Strasburg meet tomorrow. Makes a long day the worse of it being the last 10-12 miles on the way home,

              So it goes.......

                Morning all,

We had dental appointments this morning and then a trip to the credit union so I could mortgage the house for buying groceries.

The rest of my day is doing 1:1 stuff and hopefully a little time to add to the A&S RR build thread.

                Have a great day.

It rained all last night to about noon today. We got 1 3/4", but we're still down more than 10" on the year.

Geology class, then a long chat after class with the prof on a wide variety of topics. Next I lined up to get shot in both arms, Senior Flu and Covid booster. One arm is a bit sore and I feel a bit tired, so I didn't get much accomplished afterwards. (I did read some news related stuff, including some legal filings, that requires some slow & careful reading to comprehend...)

Hopefully I'll get back to clean-up and then scenery in the train room tomorrow.

Lest we think only us modelers make stupid wiring mistakes, from a local newspaper article about a restaurant fire:

Dube and George [local fire officials] both indicate they were told by an employee from Eversource [our electric utility] at the scene that they had inadvertently supplied a hot power wire to the neutral/return line while reconnecting power to the building and "engergized the neutral to the whole building."

The building sustained smoke and water damage, in addition to damage to the electrial system and appliances, according to Hooper and Hughes.
