Same here Karl. Using my cell hotspot for Internet at the River. Will be closing up by weeks end for the season. Can't wait to get back to Home Central for some real modeling. The bug is biting hard.

Weather is nice up here. Like Mi. leaves are turning for some nice color. I'll be wrapping up the lighthouse for winter. I'll take a pic and post it later or in tomorrows Lounge.

Good morning Karl and the rest of the crew. Starting in the mid-40's and heading to just above 70 here in S.E. Michigan.

I've been doing outdoor 'fall preparation' chores the past few days. Today I will put a second and final coat of paint on a few spots on the house since the weather is favorable. Other than mowing , garden bed clearing and leaf patrol, those are the last outdoor jobs still needed until the snow flies.

Karl, Bonnie and I owned as barrier island shore house in North Carolina for over a decade. Constant repairs from hurricane and nor'easter damage. The knowledge was always there that we could lose the entire house if the right storm came in. Never made sense to us to use it as our permanent residence. Once I retired, we fixed it up and cashed out. Too much work and worry for old folks. The profit made is earmarked for one year of college for each of the 9 grandkids. Three down, 6 to go.

Off for some morning errands before getting to that painting.

Late morning all,

Hurricane Ian - Not as bad in Central Florida as the people in Ft. Myers. We lost power last Wednesday night around 9:15 but got it back on Thursday around noon. We didn't get the internet, cable or phone line back on until mid morning today. I have a land line for the alarm system.

No damage at all to the house and just a few small branches down in the yard from the trees.

The air has been cool in the mornings since the hurricane - in the low 60's for the start of the day and going to the mid 80's late afternoons.

Did some outside chores in the cool morning air. Afterwards I soldered all the resistors and extension wires for both sides of the signal bridge. This afternoon I plan on starting to mount the various signal components.

Tom I'm glad you are back up and running fully. I tried calling several times to check on you and Pam but your phones were out.

Geology class all day today (class in the morning, lab in the afternoon, we're heading to the Maine Coast to measure some rocks.) Cloudy, drizzly, but relatively warm in SE NH.

Good afternoon Crew and someone! Thanks for opening and even though it’s past the caffeinated diet Doctor Pepper time, I will have a second one for the day.

Well we are home but I achieved way more then I wanted to outside today. Front porch and the south deck are cleared of furniture and placed in storage. The potted annuals are gone of which there are way too many. 29 pots alone on the south deck. All emptied of plants and the potting soil dirt mix. Cleaned and placed the pots into storage. Took a ATV with trailer of the soil out to the garden composting area. Middle 70’s since about 11 this morning but not even a chance until mid sixties late next week per the Weather Channel’s app forecast. So I got it done while the weather is great. I then took the trailer back and decided I better put the furniture on the Stable’s patios away. Got to the patios and other then the grills everything was cleaned and already in the storage room. The staff already had the outdoor water turned off and sprinklers for the landscaping drained. Turns out they also did the yards around the house for me. A great group.

So, maybe if I can climb out of my chair I will check into the train room.

Karl, totally understand your thinking about the guy with the controlling wife. Terry’s friend’s sister lost everything on Sanibel island and they had a 10 year old hurricane proofed stick built house not a manufactured home. It was just meant to be, IMO. You will love this though. The friend’s sister said that the government needs to buy all the property at the value before the hurricane and turn it into a national park and memorial!!! The house was paid for but had no insurance coverage other then liability!
