  • Queen Elizabeth has passed away

The Queen has passed away, aged 96. A very sad day for those members here that are part of the Commonwealth.

We were living in England in 1974, so used to her quiet often at public ceremonies, and the best was seeing her at the Trooping of the Colour.

She also visited Australia 16 times throughout her reign.

Yes it is sad, she had a long run though. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 1974 thru 1976 in the US Air Force. She was well loved in Great Britain.

My mother (a confirmed Anglophile) was about 10 years younger, and talked about paying attention to the Princesses in WWII newsreels.

Sorry to see such a classy leader pass into history, she was admired and loved by many in this former colony.

My grandparents came here from Scottland, and I remember my grandmother had a picture of the queen on the wall after her coronation. Like Jim said, she was a classy leader.

Ditto to the comments. She was the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Very classy Queen.
