Maintainence on freight cars continues with all couplers converted to the Kadee whisker type, steel wheels on all cars used on the layout but weigh t is still needed on some cars.

It's a sunny 65F and we're expecting a high in the upper 70's here in northern WV. Rain prevented a walk yesterday but today should work out fine for getting out.

I spent a fair amount of time working on my model house yesterday and expect to do more today. Same with the guitar and dance (Lindy hop) practice.

Brian Bollinger and I drove to NJ (and back) for Craig Bisgeier's memorial service. Ron Klass gave me this photo of Craig installing the cigar factory I built for him on the layout. Tim Harrison (cropped out of the photo :-) ) carried this from Timonium to NJ for me. This is a photo I will treasure as a memory of Craig. (The model RR community was well represented yesterday.)

My project critter, the hand rails were easier taking them off, than putting them back on. What a head banger.

Cool and humid - rainy here.....home office work on the magazine and the journal today.........and then some NMRA stuff, too.........sigh.

Might get into my shop a bit to take breaks. No errands to run; just some re-org of paper goods and other re-stocking for next run up to the PA house. Coming into the finish line there finally...

Good morning Bruce, and the incoming crew, thanks for opening and breakfast. I couldn't get logged on earlier, and had a 'lab' to get to. Back home on this dreary looking Monday.

I continued doing some work on some new layout pre-work. Sometimes known as 'playing'. Actually I found a box of signal masts that I won at an auction maybe 10 years ago in Louisville.. I bid and won on a huge full basement layout via the internet. When we got down there, the previous owner had past away several years earlier, and his kids put this layout up for auction. My youngest son and I drove the rented truck 200+ miles to start the dismantling etc. It was well over 90 degrees, and Ohio River humid. The pictures 'online' had to have been taken 10 years earlier. The track had turned green or corroded, none of the turnouts would move.. The structures had a mold patina. All the locomotives and rolling stock had been sold off separately. I took the Digitrax components that didn't look like a fire hazard,. and about 20 tortoises that I ended up rebuilding, and all the signal lights. (which was in the box I found) The auction company asked me when the 'basement' would be empty. I had already paid them and said 'see you' tomorrow'. Everybody knows tomorrow never comes, and I never bid on another auction from that outfit. I guess it was 'caveat emptor' in spades.

Morning all and all others coming in,

Thanks for the breakfast Bruce. Wet here this morning from the rain last night. No modeling as house guest are still here. I think they are leaving tomorrow for parts unknown and will be back late Friday and fly back to CO. on Sunday. I love friends and family but hate house guests.

Dave, great photo of Craig. I remember when you built that structure. You did a great job.
