I'm trying to get caught up here, Tom. I'm impressed with the thought going into each step. I like the idea of the angled highway bridge on a narrow layout.
George
George,
Thank you for taking the time to get caught up here. When I'm working on a section of the layout, I don't keep or refer to notes. I like to think of the area and what I want it to represent at the time I'm actually working on the area. The angled highway does break up the sterile look of a narrow layout section. More on the highway bridge later.
Again, thank you.
Tom

I'm going to do a little fast forward here and show the area as it is today.
I'd say it's about 85% finished. The structures all have lighting but not wired up to a buss line. I still need to add people to the area and am debating adding street lights. I have plans for two small structures that I feel will add much to the overall scene.
The structure in the photo below is a FOS kit, Hollis Pest Control. I had to kit bash the structure to fit my space. Most of you know I like to change any kit I build and give it my own look so it won't look like every other kit other layouts.
This is the rear of Hollis Pest Control. Note the plexi-glass. I added this so visitors don't break anything. Cheap insurance if you will!
More on Hollis later in the thread.

The next structure is a kit released by Ken Crump of KC's workshop. Jason Jenson took three of KC's kits and kit bashed one building. I like the Jenson kit bash but it was to weathered for me and I wanted to ;put my own design on the kit.
Again, this kit was kit bashed to fit my space. Below is Jenson's kit bash of three of KC's kits.
Here is my version of the three kits kit bashed together. Mine is weathered but it doesn't show as much.
You can see that I changed mine quite a bit different than Jensen's.

The next structure is one I scratch built some 10 years ago for contest on the Modelers Forum. There were 17 entries and I finished 16th. I was one of the judges and I didn't feel it right to judge my own build. If I added just basic points to my kit I would have taken 1st. However, it was the fun of the contest and I had no problem with the results.
I can do a build thread on how I built it if there is enough interest.
This is the Four Aces Scrap Yard. I copied the sign off a structure about 12 years ago that was on Ebay.

Your model of KC's Workshop looks much more plausible than Jenson's with the overhanging second floor.
I remember the Scrap yard. You did a rebuild of the area if I remember correctly. I think I follow along on that whole center isle build. This is DeJa'Vu all over again. I'm lovin' it.

Bernd,
Thank you. I like my version better as well. What didn't make sense to me on the Jensen model was the overhang, over a gas pump. It's a beautiful model but as you say "not plausible".
There is much of the center isle I never got to on the old forum.
Yes, the scrap yard is larger with much more detail.
