First, let me say that I'm an Atlantic Coast Line fan so I type in purple. Just a habit I got into on another forum about 15 years ago.
The A&S RR is named in honor of a late friend. He had no layout but loved the ACL and SRR, hence the Atlantic and Southern RR.
I need to explain several things to give ya'll an idea of how I got to build the current layout. Back in June of 2013 my wife Pam and I drove 10 hours to visit Cliff Powers Magnolia Route. We only stayed a few hours but that visit changed my railroad modeling life. I said to Cliff, "You nailed this and it is perfect for the area of the country you are modeling. When I get home the old layout is coming out and a new one will be built."
In December 2013 I began to removed the old layout. I'll show some of the old layout photos as I go along. The new layout is modeled from North Florida to Southern Georgia.
I started the A&S RR build thread on another forum and can't possibly go over all that here. I have over 6,000 photos in a four part series.
For now, I'll show photos of the layout in some specific locations. I won't bore you with a lot of narrative as I don't want ya'll loosing interest.
