This showed up in a Civil War guns group on Facebook.

Locomotive manufacturers were key parts of US industrial capability in the Civil War, WWI and WWII.

Modeling 1890s (because the voices in my head told me to)

Just looked it up and he or his company did build rifles.

Probably started out as an arms manufacturer then ventured into the loco business. most pioneering machine shops started out that way.
