Greetings all:

Since it's a bit after the holiday season, perhaps we should look towards one of this winter's biggest event . . . The Springfield Train Show, January 26-27.

A group of us from Kingston, ON are headed that way again despite the dollar difference.

I was wondering if other RR-L members will be attendance and would like to get together for a quick "meet and great" on either day.

It was fun two years ago, when my son, Dustin, and I, met a few folks on the Saturday. He will be joining me again this year.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Michael

I'll be there on Saturday. Hopefully I'll more conscious than last year, when I was still suffering from a combination of jet-lag (we came home from Egypt 2 days earlier) and a bad cold… I was hitting on barely 1 cylinder last year.

I'd like to, but we'll be returning from a Caribbean cruise on the 24th and I don't think my body will be ready for the cold shock of a January weekend in Massachusetts.

I'm planning on it, looking forward to it, and so on. As we have in past years, let's plan to gather to visit, chat, congratulate ourselves on living another year, and so on on both Saturday and Sunday.

Afternoons seem to work for most, and we need a highly findable location, so I'll, with permission (which I have!), invite us to gather for the Ritual Forums Photographs at 1330 on Saturday and Sunday, at the HUBDIV layout in the Better Living Center. Find James' (jbvb) Rowley module and you'll probably find James explaining and me admiring this creation yet again.

James, BTW, is dealing with some domestic issues (good ones) right now, so in the Ancient New England Tradition, I'm the Designated Town Crier.

As they say, "Let's Do This!"

Rick, good to hear from you! Either day should work, so go with what works for you!! You still ridin' the rig?

Come to think of it, Saturday might give you a chance to compare notes with Michael....

Safe travels!

I'll be at the BigE from Friday afternoon to when the Hub Division layout hits the road on Sunday. I'll make sure I'm around the Hub layout in the NE end of the Better Living Center both days at 1330.

Show is in the same location every year... the Eastern States Exposition Center, West Springfield, Massachusetts. Known as "The Big E," the venue offers lots of parking and is located off I-91 just a bit south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Easily found by GPS or Google Maps.

Find show info here: http://www.railroadhobbyshow.com

Note that some sources will call this the "Amherst Show," as it is the Amherst Railway Society that puts this show on; it's generally known as "the Springfield Show" due to its location.

Bring good walking shoes... eight-plus acres, four buildings and something over 20,000 paid visitors in addition to the 4,000 or so exhibitors, vendors, etc.

Great Weekend!

What Pete said! I usually wear my old hiking boots (even when I used to fly up from Virginia.)

Maybe I should have said "Wear 'cop shoes.'" The concrete floors are killers!

Hiking Boots are a godsend! Used them for years....

You'll need hiking boots for the half mile walk thru mud in the parking lot... LOL

Four days to Springfield Show!

Weather looks good for the journey and the weekend! A bit milder that right now.
