so, a few years ago I had started building a model of a schooner I had designed based on the proportions of the Grand Banks fishing schooners of the 1920-30s. The Canadian schooner "Bluenose 2" is an example.
Pictures follow below.

pictures of where I stopped years ago and the restart,

the scale is: 9/32"= 1'-0"

and here I have started laying out the frames on 3/32" thick basswood.

thanks for watching...

I am fascinated by the construction of model ships, although I have never built one other than plastic ones. I am looking forward to following along, Phil. Cheers, Dave

Captain Phil, can I have permission to climb aboard on your build. Looks like it's going to be an interesting journey!

This promises to be a beautiful model. I think I’ll follow along in my dinghy.

Love ships and builds of them, as I have done several, and still find something of interest. I'll be towing along with you as I've never built a schooner.

Looks like a fun project Phil. I'm curious why you chose to use 9/32 to 1' as a scale?

Jim, it was the biggest that would fit on my paper and 3/32=4” ‘twas easlier to see 1” than 1/4”=1’ also a handy scale ruler already marked by using the 3/32” side. Hersshoff’s scantling rules indicated a 4” frame width so had readily available wood to use.

Hey, thanks for all the interest, I didn’t think there would be this much as this is not a historical boat like all the other kit builds on here. You all are most welcomed to climb aboard, any questions I will try to answer. I will get more pics posted as fast as I can get them moved onto my desktop and resized. More coming soon
