Today we have a new post and video on the Helengon Mine, named in honor of the legendary John Allen. I hope you'll check 'em out.

Dave, I'm falling behind watching your vids.
I'll try to get caught up tomorrow.

Another great visit to the Thunder Mesa, thank you!

Can you talk about how you fill the ore cars when you spot them here? Do you have some sort of loading bin in the rock work, or were they just reset for the video? I did notice that that cars spotted looked fresh from the free box, while the loaded ones have seen a bit more service.

Thanks,

Thayer

Sure, I just swapped them out in the video. In actual operations, the ore loads are removable from the cars. They are made from solid blocks of foam, painted and decorated with a covering of raw "ore."

Thanks! I wasn't sure if you were loading and dumping as part of your operations or not.

Many people on this forum fondly remember the late Verne Niner and his wonderful On30 Estrella & Sonora Grande layout. This week's video shows how his award wining San Lorenzo village diorama lives on as the Old Spanish section of Thunder Mesa town. Enjoy!
