My layout needs a fairly large concrete coaling tower. The two candidates that I have found so far are the Tichy:

https://www.tichytraingroup.com/Shop/tabid/91/c/ho_structures/p/7010/Default.aspx

and the Walthers modern coaling tower:

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-2903

Space in the yard is at a premium and I would like to see how these might fit. Tichy has a nice diagram but I can't tell if it is to scale and what the measurements would be (other than to extrapolate from the width of the tracks).

Thanks much for any info.

I don't know about Tichy, but the Walthers coaling tower will fit in a 10" x 14" plot/space including the ladders on both ends.

Assuming that the drawing is to scale, I got the width of the tracks, and once that was found the foot print comes out to be 8-1/4" by 9-3/4".

Will, if space is at a premium, you may want to consider the Walthers cylindrical (150 ton?) coaling tower. I had the same space problem and it worked out well for me.

What is the track spacing for this coaling tower? And is it silently variable? (particularly the 2 tracks under the tower)

As you know this is over a 4 year thread, but in any case, I'm guessing it was a 2" track center to track center. Being approximately a 1-1 measurement of 15 feet. At this point it is my best guess.
