I toyed with the idea of adding grabs up on the ice hatch platforms, and I may yet go back and do just that. Those castings have holes that were originally to be used for nailing them on the roof, so despite painting them over, there are dimples left that I could use for a few bit of brass wire. Might add some visual interest, too.

Prototype???? Show me a picture of any CVRR freight cars and we can go from there, As far as I know, no actual photos of real CVRR freight cars exist wherein you cna actually make out any useful information. I have a lettering diagram for CVRR hoppers, a few photos of cabooses, some Mow equipment, and lots of photos of engines......and the electrified car that ran on the Dillsburg branch, but no freight car photos.

Next up off the top of the pile of "goodies".......looks to be a Huff 'n' Puff car or something of that ilk.

Was not too bad looking until it arrived and the the roof came off and then the sides starting to fall off......

Got a bit of weight added! Date on the inside is from 1965. Doors on each side open in different directions. No ladders at the one end, no end walks on the roof, could use grab irons, etc. Some other "stuff".... Underbody has an AB system that's partially plumbed out. Came with Monarch(?) couplers that are going away, but also came with all metal Athearn archbar trucks and those will stay.

1st order of business is to stabilize the structure and then get the roof back on - all the trim letterboards are loose so "adjustments" are possible.

Have to look in my dry transfer storage to see if I have something "interesting" to put on this car, too.

Those that "fit" into my CVRR era and also into a regional sense are keepers. Ok, some oddball ones that simply are "neat", I will keep,

The rest either get sold off or in some cases, just given away. I got my fun out of them rebulding/restoring and sometimes I even learn a new trick or 2 along the way. But, I don't "need" rolling stock, and I don't have much more storage space available...... again!!! May be time for another purge....

Lastly, I think that there are several yet in the box on the floor of my office under desk #3 that will be looking for new homes after they are ready to go back on the track.

Of course, there's another box on the other side of desk #3 with a few passenger cars and a trolley......and then there's the stack of project boxes on the wood lathe.....that I have not been able to use for a looooooooooog time.

Next up on the hit parade is a stock car. I have maybe 3 stock cars total.....might be a keeper. Looks to be maybe another Huff 'n' Puff car. Doors are a mess and the roof needs to be re-worked, but that bright yellow is pretty decent. Kadee couplers and a pair of Bettandorf trucks to trade away.....

Well, another one done....







New roof, rebuilt doors and tracks, and some paint here & there. And, a bit of weight inside to go with teh metal Archbar trucks to get this car some tracking weight.

Just keeping busy clearing these out so that I can get back to the scratchbuilding car and trolley projects... Still have another 5-6 freight cars to deal and then I have a similar stack of trolley cars to attend to and put to rights.

This one had to be re-assembled, new car bolsters, trucks & couplers, smokejack, and few other added bits.

3rd caboose in this grouping is in parts on the bench. Debating installing a tar paper/canvas roof on it....
