Would it be an idea to set this topic as a sticky?

Cheers,

Jeroen

Well since the group has been up and running it has gotten me motivated again on my designs with some fresh ideas.
Unfortunately after some negotiation with my girlfriend i lost part of the living room and with that the width of my plans have been narrowed.
Back to the drawing bored though and i have come up with something that is better operationally as a shelf layout and to be incorporated into a larger layout in the future maybe.
I will be getting to the work bench tonight after about a month off so hopefully I get some stuff done to share.

Well let's see...

I'm doing a little detail painting on one of my BS K-27's getting her ready for weathering in the future. Also packing for our HOn3 Free-Mo setup at the GTE wich is in Denver this weekend. Kicking myself because I didn't fix the gear issue in my Fuji K-36 or complete painting, decaling, and DCC-ing my B4D C&S 69! My modules aren't ready yet, hopefully by Rails in the Rockies February in Estes Park.

Glad to have a spot to chat with my fellow HO narrow gaugers.

Gordon, a 'sticky' is a thread that is marked to stay at the top of a forum so it doesn't disappear from the first page of threads in that forum. Any Moderator or Administrator can make a thread a 'sticky'. We try not to make too many threads in a Forum a sticky since it tends to defeat the purpose.

Bruce,

Thank you. I didn't really know what a "sticky" was apparently.

Hey guys. Cool that we got our own section and now lounge here on RRL! I'm plugging away on my mini mining layout still. I'm going to start a thread on it over here soon. I've got the terrain covered now and built the 2nd structure. I've got most of the other structures designed and have been acquiring parts.

I've got a WSM c-16 I'm super detailing and an old WSM slide valve k-27 I'm in the process of stripping down to repaint/detail.

some other stuff too but no pics or info on that yet.

Phil,

You have a trackplan you can display for your mini layout?

Geez...I could have written that last year. Exactly! Your enthusiastic post inspired me to go out to my shed to run my poor, neglected HOn3 layout last night. I've been considering tearing up the track and going On30 but those Blackstone locomotives are sooooooo nice!

First you dream about what type of railroad you're going to build and when you finally get the space, reality sets in.
I put down some On30 track along the finished 20ft. wall
and ran a Bachmann On30 Forney back and forth.
Twenty feet had now,not seemed so long.
I guess Blackstone was the answer to my question.
I think that Blackstone will definitely nudge some modellers to get into HOn3.
Micro Engineering is great for ready to run track.
I've seen the Litco turnouts also and they are nicely made.
I'm not looking for everything ready to run,but Blackstone is a good start for motive power.
Sound,dcc,great looking,great running.
Who knows?
Maybe even Bachmann could jump into the HOn3 market.
Now that would be something

Jeff, Here's an older photo. I'll have to take some new pics. A lot has happened since this one. It's 35"x45". I'm going to start a thread here on it soon.

Hi,

it's great to have this section for our specific interest area.

Personally I've been modeling HO narrow gauge for ages it seems. But in fact I never got far into building a layout. My most recent attempt can be found in the micro layout section here:

http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33553

I also build models in HOn3. My plan is to build a small layout in that gauge next. I'm not following any specific prototype. A few years ago I (like probably many others) considered switching to On30. Before selling off my collection I tried to analyze what pleases me so much about On30. I found I liked the more light-hearted approach of the On30 fraternity. But this is not related to any specific scale / gauge combination.

So the conclusion for my future modeling is:
  • most of my rolling stock is 24' to 26' long
  • I run a boxcab diesel and steam
  • everything is well maintained and only slightly weathered
  • prototype designs are adapted to my railroad (eg. pulpwood cars from Maine or cars with wood tanks
  • the area is loosely finished on the Pacific northwest

I'm trying to build and paint good models but see the layout as my world on which I have fun.

From time to time I hope to post photos of single projects to show what I'm talking about. But now it's time to continue painting my backdrop.

Regards
Martin

Hi guys. This forum is great because I can check in on occasion to see what others are working on. I would like to post some pictures of my modules and a small critter. Should I add to the topics or start a new thread? I do not want to step on any toes.

David
